Job description

We are looking for a skilled CAD Technician / 3D Laser Scanning Technician to join our innovative team at Vision Survey. This role provides an excellent opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects utilising advanced technology.

Responsibilities

1. CAD Drawing Creation and Editing:
   • Create 2D and 3D drawings using AutoCAD based on specifications and survey data.
   • Collaborate with engineers and designers to meet project requirements.
2. Laser Scanning Data Acquisition:
   • Conduct 3D laser scanning to gather precise spatial data.
   • Ensure equipment is correctly set up and calibrated.
3. Cyclone Cloud Processing:
   • Import and process point cloud data in Leica Cyclone to create 3D models.
   • Manage data storage and processing for project access.
4. Data Integration:
   • Combine point cloud data with CAD models for accurate representations of structures.
   • Support as-built documentation and renovations with integrated design models.
5. Quality Control and Accuracy:
   • Verify the accuracy of point cloud data and CAD drawings before submission.
   • Conduct quality checks to ensure compliance with standards.
6. Collaboration and Communication:
   • Work with project teams to align CAD drawings and scanning data with project goals.
   • Provide technical insights in meetings and assist other departments with data needs.
7. Software and Technology Management:
   • Stay updated on CAD and laser scanning technology to enhance work quality.
   • Troubleshoot software issues and maintain licenses for optimal operation.
8. Documentation and Reporting:
   • Prepare reports on scanning and CAD activities, including timelines and challenges.
   • Keep comprehensive records of scanned data and project revisions.
9. Training and Mentorship:
   • Provide training and best practices for CAD software and laser scanning equipment.

Minimum Requirements

• Expertise in AutoCAD for both 2D and 3D (required)
• Experience with Cyclone Cloud processing (mandatory)
• Understanding of 3D laser scanning technologies and management of point cloud data.
• Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to identify inconsistencies in complex data sets.
• Knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM) principles and processes (preferred)
• Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with team members and clients.
• Capability to work under pressure and adhere to project timelines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Qualification in City & Guilds Level 3 in Computer-Aided Design.
• Experience in the surveying, engineering, or construction sectors.
• Proficiency in 3D modeling applications and laser scanning technologies.
