JOB- CAD/CAM Technician
LOCATION- Slough
TERM- Permanent
SALARY- £35,000 to £40,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
My client is a specialist metal manufacturer. They are looking for a CAD/CAM Technician to join their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be involved in both the design and manufacturing programming aspects of precision-engineered components.
The CAD/CAM Technician will ideally have the following attributes:
- A qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (HNC, HND, BEng, etc.)
- Strong experience using CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar)
- Knowledge of sheet metal, fabrication, welding, machining and similar materials
- Experience with CAM software for CNC programming (EdgeCAM, Mastercam, or similar)
- Understanding of manufacturing processes, particularly CNC machining and fabrication
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Good communication skills and ability to work well within a team
The CAD/CAM Technician role will involve:
- Producing 3D CAD models and 2D drawings for manufacturing
- Creating and optimising CNC programs using CAM software for milling and turning machines
- Liaising with the production team to ensure designs and programs are manufacturable
- Assisting with tooling selection and process planning
- Reviewing and updating engineering documentation and BOMs
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives in the manufacturing process
