About the Role

As a CAD/CAM Apprentice at NOV's Fiber Glass Systems (FGS) division in Plymouth, you will join the CAD/CAM Team within the Advanced Design and Manufacturing (ADAM) Engineering Services group. Under the guidance of the Senior CAD/CAM personnel, you will support the development of technical drawings, 3D models, and CNC/CMM programming to aid project delivery.

This role provides hands-on experience across technical functions and is ideal for individuals beginning a career in digital design and manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Produce accurate, fabrication-ready drawings and 3D models
  • Assist in programming and operating CNC & CMM machinery
  • Support sales through technical visuals and project assistance
  • Participate in the development and refinement of Standard Operating Instructions (SOIs)
  • Help ensure design documentation aligns with project and material specifications
  • Communicate with internal teams, suppliers, and clients as needed
  • Contribute to Bills of Materials (BOMs) from CAD models when applicable
  • Log hours and adhere to Business Management Systems (BMS) and quality standards
  • Engage in regular training and development, including college-based education
Qualifications & Skills

Essential:

  • GCSE (or equivalent) in English, Maths, and Science
  • Intermediate CAD software experience
  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • Good communication skills
  • Strong teamwork and willingness to learn
Desirable:
  • Degree-level education in a relevant field
  • Advanced CAD/CAM proficiency
  • Knowledge of PX fabrication procedures
  • Familiarity with construction or manufacturing environments
