Job summary

Morson Edge is seeking an Interconnects Engineer to join the Electronic Engineering team. You will design cables and interconnects, develop schematics with Zuken E3, and support E3 users across the lifecycle.

The role requires 2–5 years of E3 experience, knowledge of Windchill, and familiarity with CREO Cabling. Hybrid on-site work in Watford, with emphasis on delivering quality, timely solutions.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of experience using E3 and cable products.
• Define, deploy and refine E3 processes including electrical topology and 2D drawings.
• Develop and deliver technical instruction to E3 users.
• Understand product data management and change management in Windchill.
• Design cable assemblies meeting constraints like current, EMC and volt drop.
• Experience in cable assembly production/process engineering.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.

Hybrid working – 2 – 3 days on site

Inside IR35 - £50 per hour umbrella

12 month contract initially – open to extension

Overview of Department:

The role will be working within the Interconnects Team in Electronic Engineering (EE). EE aims to develop leading edge electronic engineering expertise, capabilities and technologies. The Interconnects Team forms a valuable part of this, tasked with providing a professional design service, embracing new and existing technology to meet quality and timescales, ensuring customer satisfaction.

The Interconnects Team are our Primary Technical Experts for Interconnectivity for the company and responsible for the design of cables and interconnecting mediums. We provide exemplary technical expertise and technological innovation while enjoying our design work.

Responsibilities:

• Interpret sub-system requirements
• Generate electrical schematics and cable design definitions utilising Zuken E3.
• Provide assistance, guidance, and issue resolution for E3 users and the ability to utilise & integrate Zuken E3 throughout the product development lifecycle
• Carry out investigations into a full range of cable problems and issues; developing and preparing solutions, either individually or as a member of a project team
• Provide guidance and support to other areas of the business in order to resolve any manufacturing issues, as well as supporting functional and environmental product trials.
• Read and/or support process development and capability improvement for Zuken E3 workflow.

Skillset / Experience required:

• A minimum 2-5 years' experience in the use of E3. Cable and related products (E3.Formboard / E3.3D Transformer beneficial).
• A proven ability to define, deploy, and refine processes and best practices within E3 – including; electrical topology, wiring schematics and 2D manufacturing drawing processes and standards.
• Proven ability to develop and deliver technical instruction to E3 users.
• Thorough understanding of product data management and change management within Windchill or similar.
• The ability to design cable assemblies based upon electrical constraints such as current, screening, signal types, volt drop, EMC and environmental requirements.
• An appreciation of cable assembly production/process engineering.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience of PTC CREO Cabling and HarnWare would be beneficial.
