Job summary

Production Futures Limited in Bolton is seeking a Cable and Control Technician to join UK Rigging’s warehouse team. You will test, prep, stock, repair cables and controller components, and ensure asset labelling meets brand standards while supporting peak loads.

Hours are 35 per week, 09:30–17:30, Monday to Friday, with long-term career prospects in a permanent role at Bolton headquarters.

Qualifications

• Mechanical aptitude and ability to use tools to maintain and repair equipment.
• High attention to detail to ensure safety standards.
• Physical stamina and ability to lift/move stock.
• Self-motivated with ability to work independently under heavy workload.
• Live events experience; BS 7909 knowledge preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Equipment testing: visually inspect and test cables and hoist control systems.
• Equipment prep: coil, tape, and return items to stock.
• Stock management: use asset system to check-in equipment and report issues.
• Undertake repairs: repair or replace damaged cables and controllers.

WHAT DOES THE UK RIGGING WAREHOUSE TEAM DO?

At UK Rigging, the Warehouse team are the custodians of high-end entertainment technology and equipment. Together, the Warehouse department ensure that every piece of equipment is safe, functional, and up to standard, ready for the UK’s biggest tours and events. We are looking for a Cable and Control specialist to join the team.

THE DUTIES OF A CABLE AND CONTROL TECHNICIAN INCLUDE:

• Equipment Testing: Visually inspect and test multi-pin extension cables and hoist control systems.
• Equipment Prep: Coil and tape cables to company standard, and return items to stock, ready for hire.
• Stock Management: Use the asset management system to quickly and efficiently check-in returning equipment, reporting any issues or delays to the supervisor.
• Undertake Repairs: Repair or replace damaged cables, cable connectors and controller components.
• Asset Assurance: Ensure all branding, marking, and asset labelling strictly meet brand standards.
• Team Support: Assist warehouse staff with truck loading and unloading during peak times.
• Housekeeping: Maintain a clean, tidy, organized, and well-stocked workspace following 5S principles.

DO YOU HAVE THE TECHNICAL MINDSET?

• Mechanical Aptitude: You enjoy understanding how things work and are confident using tools to maintain and repair equipment.
• Technical Accuracy: You have a sharp eye for detail, ensuring every item is checked with 100% accuracy to maintain safety standards.
• Physical Stamina: You are comfortable being on your feet most of the day, with heavy lifting and the manual work involved in moving stock.
• Self-Motivation: You can be trusted to undertake solo tasks and remain motivated when faced with a heavy workload.
• Events & Electronics Experience: Hands-on experience with live events is preferable, and knowledge of BS 7909 is preferred but not essential.

WHERE AND WHEN WILL YOU BE WORKING?

Location: Bolton warehouse

Hours per week: 35 hrs a week, 09.30-17.30, Monday to Friday, 1-hour lunch break
