Job summary

World Class Defence Organisation, Bristol facility, is seeking a C++ Software Engineer (QT) on a 12-month subcontract basis, with a high likelihood of extension. The role is onsite 4 days per week (Monday to Thursday) with a 4-day week option.

You will replace an existing console with a newer architecture, focusing on maintainability and verifiability within the overall Air Defence systems portfolio. Collaboration within a small team while delivering a standalone but well-integrated product is

Qualifications

• A strong background in software engineering, its realisation and system wide impact.
• Experience of working in C++ and QT
• Collaborative, open approach to application development and have the ability to maintain momentum during development.
• Experience of working across the entire software development process from engaging with requirement authorities to automated proving, supported with effective documentation
• Experience of new tools, techniques and approaches that might enable us to evolve our processes to improve our efficiency and sustainability
• Experience in other languages such as Ada, QT
• Knowledge of DDS and multi-threaded applications.
• Knowledge of standards such as DefStan 00-55, DO-178C or IEC61508 and restricted coding standards such as MISRA C++

Responsibilities

• To produce a software Console product, replacing an existing version with better software architecture making the product more maintainable and verifiable going forward.
• This is not an up-date, but a remake – this is estimated to a minimum of 12 month’s work.
• The task is primarily an independent solo task, but based within a team for support/input and to ensure that the resulting product operates within the intended system.
