Overview

My client, in the defence sector are looking for an experienced C++ / Qt Software Engineer to join a team developing software solutions for the next generation of Air Defence Systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop a new software Console application using C++ and Qt.
• Work across the full software development lifecycle, from requirements through to automated verification and delivery.
• Develop software that meets high standards of reliability, safety and performance.
• Produce effective technical documentation throughout the development process.
• Work collaboratively with other engineering teams and stakeholders to ensure successful system integration.
• Identify and introduce new tools, techniques and approaches to improve development efficiency and sustainability.

Essential Experience

• Strong software engineering background, including understanding of software realisation and wider system impact.
• Strong commercial experience with C++ and Qt.
• Experience working across the full software development lifecycle.
• Experience working with requirements, development, verification and supporting documentation.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a wider engineering environment.
• Experience developing software within safety-critical, regulated or highly dependable environments.
• Active SC clearance.

Desirable Experience

• Experience with DDS.
• Experience developing multi-threaded applications.
• Experience with Ada or other programming languages.
• Knowledge of safety-critical standards such as Def Stan 00-55, DO-178C or IEC 61508.
• Experience with restricted coding standards such as MISRA C++.
• Experience introducing new development tools, techniques or processes.
