Job summary

World Class Defence Organisation is recruiting a C# / C++ Software Engineer subcontractor for a 12-month initial contract, onsite in Bolton. The role focuses on developing and integrating data capture, analysis and training systems in a Windows environment, with a 4-day week possible and a 37-hour week.

You will work in a team to respond to customer requirements, design, develop, test, and optimize software across subsystems, contributing to product reliability and performance.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in C++ / C# development in a Windows environment.
• Proficiency in C# for tooling, test interfaces, or Windows components at need.
• Demonstrable skills in multi-threaded and concurrent programming.
• Strong understanding of software design principles, memory management, and performance optimisation.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with technical documentation to inform the software engineering process around system software requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop the system interface software that captures performance data.
• Support setting to work of new software to perform target testing on Windows hardware.
• Architect and implement robust, scalable, and maintainable multi-threaded applications.
• Lead and contribute to system integration, verification, and testing at component and system levels.
• Conduct performance analysis, debugging, and optimisation of real-time systems.
• Document architecture, interface definitions, and test procedures to support handover and formal test activities.
