Job summary

Rolls-Royce SMR is seeking a Head of C&I Systems Design & Implementation to lead the development, integration, implementation and governance of Control & Instrumentation systems across the programme.

You will guide multidisciplinary teams on system implementation, physical architectures, interface management, verification and deployment readiness, partnering with the Chief Design Engineer and regulators to ensure safe, secure and high-quality engineering outcomes.

Qualifications

• Degree in Control & Instrumentation, Electrical or related field.
• Chartered Engineer or eligible for chartership within timeframe.
• Significant experience delivering complex safety-related systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Systems Design & Implementation function across EC&I.
• Define and maintain integrated C&I implementation strategies and baselines.
• Ensure interfaces are fully integrated and controlled across hardware/software.
• Establish and govern system architecture, deployment strategies.
• Lead requirements traceability, verification and validation planning.
• Champion MBSE and digital engineering practices.
• Maintain configuration management and technical baselining.
• Oversee governance, design reviews and engineering assurance.
• Embed nuclear safety, cybersecurity and regulatory requirements.
• Support licensing, regulatory engagement and assessments.
• Develop strategic delivery plans aligning resources with demands.
• Provide technical oversight of suppliers and partners.
• Mentor and develop the engineering organization for succession.
