The Army Benevolent Fund seeks a Buying & Merchandising Manager for a 12-month maternity cover role. This part-time position involves managing the online shop and offline merchandise, ensuring effective product sourcing, display, and budget management. The Army Benevolent Fund (ABF) is the Army’s national charity, supporting soldiers, veterans, and their immediate families, in times of need. The Charity operates a regional structure across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, with its central office in London. The Buying & Merchandising Manager (maternity cover) will be responsible for the ABF’s online shop, during its busy Christmas season, and managing the provision of offline merchandise for the Charity’s fundraising teams.
The role involves buying and merchandising – ascertaining which products will be sold and where they will be sourced from, as well as having responsibility for display, packaging andstock allocation. As well as budget management, this role involves working with the broader communications and marketing team on product marketing and updating the website accordingly.
This is a 12-month maternity cover role, and we welcome applications from candidates with a successful track record in buying and merchandising, and who have an understanding and empathy for the vision and values of the Charity.
The starting salary is £27,456 pro-rata (FTE £45,760). After a probationary period of 6 months the successful candidate will benefit from the Charity’s full range of employment benefits including an income protection scheme and an employer contribution pension. There will also be opportunities to participate in key Charity events and activities with a TOIL scheme in place. This is a part-time maternity cover post for 21 hours per week, based at the Charity’s Office in London. The Charity currently operates a minimum of 2 days in the office, with flexibility for part-time employees.
