Job description

Job Description

At Dreams, we know your bed is the best place in the whole world. But for the hours between precious sleep, we`d like to make work a special place to be too. We`re the UK`s most loved bed retailer, so it`s important our people feel the love as well. There`s over 250 of us at our affectionately named `Bedquarters` in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, where every dreamer makes a difference. We`re passionate about our people-first culture, which means we keep things simple and celebrate every success, big or small! From payday treats to charity fundraisers and all-staff lunches, we believe we do it best when we do it together. Since 1985, we`ve been making bedtimes better, with no signs of hitting the snooze button. We`re owned by Tempur Sealy, the world`s largest bedding provider, and have our own UK-based Bed Factory. New team members get a guided tour as part of our induction to help you get fully bed-ucated. With 208 stores nationwide, 6 warehouses, and 12 delivery centres, we sell 14,000 mattresses, bases, and headboards weekly. If you love beds and sleep, Dreams could be the perfect place for you. Dreams. Love your job.

We`re seeking a Buying Assistant to join our Buying Team in Loudwater, Buckinghamshire. Your responsibilities will include supporting the sourcing strategy for a product group, assisting in delivering commercial initiatives, and supporting the Buyer to maximise sales and profit while minimising markdowns across retail, web, and telesales channels. Your daily tasks will include:

  1. Coordination and maintenance of product data, prices, and promotions to support the creation of high-quality product ranges.
  2. Ensuring accuracy in product setup processes and protecting launch dates.
  3. Collaborating with the Quality team to ensure delivery of high-quality, ethically sourced products.
  4. Providing analysis and support for supplier management and negotiations to improve terms and costs.
  5. Organising product displays for roadshows and conferences.
  6. Managing samples, including procurement, storage, and disposal.
  7. Overseeing product and packaging innovation, ensuring compliance with channel requirements.
  8. Supporting web and marketing teams in managing and developing own-label brands and sub-brands.
  9. Working closely with merchandisers to develop sourcing strategies that maximise sales and profit.
  10. Managing supplier relationships, including setting up and liaising with third-party suppliers to ensure timely and accurate product delivery.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Outstanding organisational skills
  • Experience in buying administration, preferably in retail or with relevant graduate education
  • Ability to work cross-functionally
  • Strong financial acumen
  • Ability to interpret market trends

We value a people-first attitude, confidence in communication, motivation, and team spirit. You should be a reliable team member, supporting colleagues with product queries and administrative tasks.

In return, we offer:

  • Discretionary annual bonus
  • Staff discounts on Dreams products and hundreds of other brands
  • Buy-in schemes for extra holiday, private healthcare, and savings
  • Free onsite parking
  • Wellbeing support through the Retail Trust and out-of-hours GP
  • Electric Car Scheme
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity pay from 2024
  • On-site gym facilities
  • Hybrid working options
