Hariley Solutions West Midlands is seeking a proactive Buyer to join our procurement team in Walsall. The role focuses on purchasing and inventory management to ensure timely material delivery for production and cost-effective sourcing.

You will build strong supplier relationships, negotiate terms, monitor performance, and manage stock levels while collaborating with internal teams. Excellent communication and organisation are essential for success.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day purchasing activities aligned with demand and production requirements.

• Maintain stock and safety stock levels to minimise excess inventory and obsolescence.

Job Role - Buyer

Location: Walsall, West Midlands

Salary: Up to £37,000 (flexible for the right candidate)

Contract: Permanent | Monthly Paid

Working Hours

• Monday - Thursday: 8:00am - 5:15pm
• Friday: 8:00am - 12:00pm

About the Role

We are looking for a proactive, commercially minded Buyer to join an established procurement team within a manufacturing environment based in Walsall. You will take responsibility for purchasing and inventory management, ensuring materials are sourced cost-effectively and delivered on time to meet production requirements. This is a fast-paced role requiring strong negotiation, communication and organisational skills, alongside the ability to build effective supplier relationships and manage competing priorities.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day purchasing activities, ensuring materials are ordered in line with business demand and production requirements.
• Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms and supplier agreements to achieve cost savings.
• Monitor supplier performance, delivery schedules and lead times.
• Maintain appropriate stock and safety stock levels, minimising excess inventory and obsolescence.
• Work closely with internal departments to resolve supply chain and quality issues.
• Identify opportunities for supplier consolidation, improved buying terms and inventory efficiencies.
• Monitor purchasing costs and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Proactively manage delivery performance and **escalate** issues where necessary.

About You

• Previous experience in a Buyer or Purchasing role, preferably within manufacturing or engineering.
• Strong supplier negotiation and relationship management skills.
• Good understanding of procurement, inventory and supply chain processes.
• Commercial awareness and the ability to identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Excellent communication, organisation and attention to detail.
• The ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
• A proactive and collaborative approach.

Performance Objectives

• 2% overall purchase price reduction.
• Greater than 90% Vendor On-Time Delivery.
• Greater than 99% On-Time In-Full performance for production kits.
