You will play an important role in managing inventory, improving supplier performance and supporting the wider business in achieving its cost, quality and delivery objectives.

The successful candidate will be confident working in a time-pressured environment, balancing competing priorities while ensuring purchasing decisions deliver the best overall value.

Commutable from Walsall, Lichfield and Wolverhampton.

Key Responsibilities - Buyer

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating pricing, payment terms and delivery schedules.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings, supplier consolidation and improved purchasing terms.
  • Challenge supplier price increases and negotiate discounts, rebates and more favourable commercial agreements.
  • Monitor stock levels, demand forecasts and lead times to maintain continuity of supply while minimising excess inventory and obsolescence.
  • Manage purchase orders and supplier commitments, ensuring deliveries meet production requirements.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing and inventory information within the company's business systems.
  • Monitor supplier performance, proactively resolving delivery issues and escalating concerns where necessary.
  • Work closely with internal departments, including Production, Quality and Commercial, to ensure purchasing decisions support business requirements.
  • Liaise with suppliers to address quality issues, investigate non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve stock management and supply chain efficiency through approaches such as Kanban, vendor-managed inventory and minimum/maximum stock controls.
  • Monitor purchasing price variations and work with the Commercial team to ensure changes are accurately communicated.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and wider procurement projects.
About You - Buyer
  • Previous experience in a Buyer, Purchasing or Procurement role, preferably within manufacturing or engineering.
  • Strong negotiation skills, with the ability to secure competitive pricing and favourable supplier terms.
  • Experience managing supplier relationships and monitoring supplier performance.
