Job summary

TLP in Pershore, Worcestershire, seeks an experienced Buyer to ensure timely sourcing of materials and services for an engineering environment. You will manage supplier relationships, obtain competitive quotations and raise purchase orders to meet business needs.

The role requires strong organisational skills, effective negotiation, and a proactive approach to supplier management. Monday–Friday, office-based with a stable career path in a well-established company.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a Buyer, Purchasing or Procurement role.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Excellent organisation and attention to detail.
• Good commercial awareness and an understanding of cost control.
• The ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy working environment.
• Confidence using computer systems and Microsoft Office.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and supplier management.
• Experience purchasing engineering components, manufacturing materials or industrial products would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Managing purchasing activities to ensure materials and components are available when required.
• Sourcing new suppliers and maintaining strong relationships with existing suppliers.
• Requesting and comparing quotations to secure competitive pricing.
• Raising and processing purchase orders.
• Monitoring supplier performance, delivery schedules and lead times.
• Liaising with internal departments to understand purchasing requirements.
• Negotiating pricing, payment terms and delivery arrangements where appropriate.
• Monitoring stock levels and helping to prevent shortages or unnecessary expenditure.
• Resolving supplier queries and delivery issues efficiently.
• Maintaining accurate purchasing records and ensuring relevant documentation is up to date.

Salary: £35,000-£40,000 per annum

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, with an early finish at 1:00 pm every Friday
