Job summary

Orion Electrotech Ltd in Aston, Birmingham, is seeking a Buyer to join our engineering and manufacturing team. You will manage supplier relationships and ensure timely delivery of critical components into the production line.

Duties include purchase orders, supplier scheduling, expediting, data in ERP/MRP, and collaborating with planning, production, quality and engineering. Strong Excel skills and experience with ERP/MRP systems are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience as Buyer or similar in manufacturing/engineering environment.
• Experience purchasing engineered components, machined parts, assemblies or manufactured products.
• Experience using ERP/MRP systems (SAP, EFACS, Epicor, Oracle, Sage or similar).
• Strong supplier relationship management and excel proficiency.

We're recruiting for a Buyer to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing business producing highly engineered, low-volume products for critical applications. The Role

As a Buyer, you'll be responsible for managing supplier relationships and ensuring the timely delivery of critical components into the manufacturing operation.

Duties will include:

• Managing purchase orders and supplier schedules
• Developing and maintaining strong supplier relationships
• Expediting orders and resolving supply issues
• Monitoring supplier performance and delivery commitments
• Obtaining quotations and supporting sourcing activities
• Working closely with planning, production, quality and engineering teams
• Maintaining accurate information within ERP/MRP systems
• Using Excel to analyse and manage purchasing data
• Supporting continuous improvement across the supply chain function

What We're Looking For

To be successful in this Buyer role, you'll ideally have:

• Previous experience as a Buyer, Junior Buyer, Purchasing Coordinator, Procurement Coordinator or similar
• Experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment
• Experience purchasing engineered components, machined parts, assemblies, or manufactured products
• Strong supplier relationship management skills
• Experience using ERP/MRP systems (SAP, EFACS, Epicor, Oracle, Sage or similar)
• Good Excel skills
• Strong communication skills and a professional approach
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills

Desirable

• CIPS qualification or working towards CIPS
• Degree within Supply Chain, Procurement, Business or Engineering
• Aerospace, Automotive, Defence, Electronics or Precision Engineering experience
