Job Title: Buyer

Location: Coventry, West Midlands

Hours of work: Mon - Thu, 07:15AM - 4:30PM, Fri 07:15AM – 12:15PM

Linkster are currently looking for a Buyer to join our well-established manufacturing Client in Coventry.

We are happy to consider strong candidates with sheet metal/fabrication/engineering backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities - Buyer

• Act as the primary contact for suppliers, negotiating contracts, terms, and deadlines.
• Ensure timely delivery of goods and continuity of supply while driving cost reductions.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, implementing risk mitigation plans to ensure consistent supply levels.
• Manage component stock levels, availability, and supplier databases.
• Organise supplier audits and evaluations, maintaining the approved suppliers register.
• Develop and execute strategies to improve supplier relationships and communication, aligned with ISO9001/IATF 16949 requirements.
• Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, Production, Finance, and Quality teams to drive procurement excellence.
• Lead sourcing activities, including RFQs, quotation analysis, and negotiations.
• Address quality issues using methods such as 8D, 5 Whys, and Fishbone analysis.
• Maintain procurement records, supplier databases, and contracts.

Skills & Experience Required - Buyer

• Strong expertise in engineering procurement with market benchmarking and negotiation skills.
• Proficient in MRP systems and data analysis, with advanced skills in Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Engineering background with the ability to read CAD and technical drawings.
• Knowledge of ISO9001 and IATF 16949 in purchasing and supply contexts.
• Results-driven, proactive, and resilient under pressure.
• Effective stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration.
• Credible team ambassador with excellent communication skills.
