Job description

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Buyer to join our Team!

You’ll be a key member of the Physical Goods Buying Team, supporting the Category Manager. Your responsibilities will include:

1. Raising purchase requisitions and purchase orders
2. Building strong relationships with MTC’s suppliers, negotiating prices, and ensuring the best level of service
3. Adhering to all policies and procedures
4. Communicating clearly with the Goods-In department to ensure proper receipt and distribution of goods
5. Tracking and expediting purchase orders by working with suppliers and carriers
6. Reacting efficiently to unforeseen issues internally and externally
7. Maintaining our ERP system, spreadsheets, databases, and records accurately to ensure smooth processes
8. Generating reports to monitor delivery deadlines
9. Collaborating with finance and other departments involved in procurement
10. Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders and promoting the Procurement Team’s services across the MTC Group

This role suits a team player with some procurement experience, excellent communication skills, and proficiency in MS Office tools such as Word and Excel. Good literacy and numeracy are also required.

You should ideally be working towards your CIPS qualification or willing to do so.

We are looking for someone with:

• Strong commercial acumen and negotiation experience
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships quickly
• Experience using ERP systems
• Familiarity with Incoterms (preferred but not essential)
• Experience in R&D, aerospace, or automotive sectors (preferred but not essential)
• A full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel if needed
