Job summary

ASC Connections is seeking a Buyer (Expediting & ERP) in Coventry to own end-to-end purchasing, expedite orders, and manage supplier performance. The role focuses on proactive delivery expediting, inventory flow, and cost-effective procurement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

You will work with the procurement and production teams to prevent bottlenecks, optimise order fulfilment, and maintain strong supplier relationships while using the ERP system to track progress and ensure

• Proven experience as a Buyer, Purchasing Officer, or Procurement Specialist in engineering, manufacturing, or industrial environments.
• Experience expediting orders and chasing suppliers to resolve delivery issues.
• Strong experience using ERP systems for purchasing, tracking, and data management.

The Opportunity

An established and growing engineering and manufacturing organisation is seeking an experienced Buyer to join its supply chain team in Coventry. This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive procurement professional to take ownership of supplier relationships, drive order fulfillment, and play a pivotal role in supporting ongoing manufacturing operations.

The Role

Working within a fast-paced environment, you will take full ownership of the end-to-end purchasing process, ensuring the timely and cost-effective supply of materials and services. A core focus of this position will be proactive order expediting, chasing up outstanding deliveries, and managing inventory flow using the internal ERP system to prevent any supply chain bottlenecks.

Key Responsibilities

• Raise and manage purchase orders efficiently in line with live business requirements.
• Proactively expedite orders and chase suppliers regularly to track production, eliminate delays, and guarantee continuity of supply.
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key vendors, holding them accountable to strict delivery schedules and quality benchmarks.
• Monitor overall supplier performance and swiftly resolve any delivery discrepancies or quality issues.
• Leverage the internal ERP system for accurate data management, order tracking, and inventory control.
• Support cost reduction initiatives through strategic negotiation and benchmarking.
• Work cross-functionally with production, planning, and internal departments to ensure seamless operational coordination.

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience working as a Buyer, Purchasing Officer, or Procurement Specialist within an engineering, manufacturing, or industrial environment.
• Demonstrated experience in expediting orders and chasing up suppliers to solve delivery challenges.
• Strong hands-on experience using ERP systems for purchasing, tracking, and data management.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and supplier relationship management skills.
• High level of organisation, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
• The ability to manage multiple priorities and chase updates proactively in a fast-paced setting.
