Job summary

Loch Arthur Camphill Community is seeking a part-time butcher to join our farm shop team. You will be one of two front people on the butchery counter, serving customers and ensuring quality meat is prepared for sale in the shop and cafe.

The role requires willingness to learn, friendly customer service, and teamwork within a supportive community. We offer a responsible working environment with emphasis on health, safety, hygiene, and quality, with PVG clearance required and the right to work in

Job description

We are seeking someone to join our team at Loch Arthur as a part time Butcher.

Loch Arthur is a working community which includes men and women with learning disabilities. As a dynamic and vibrant Social Enterprise we have a farm, a large garden, creamery, bakery and craft workshops and a thriving farm shop and cafe. Our farm shop team includes adults with learning disabilities. We are looking for candidates who demonstrate patience and respect with customers and colleagues.

We are looking for a candidate who can support the smooth running of our butchery and produce a range of quality packed meats for sale in the shop and for use in our Farm Shop cafe. The products we sell in the butchery are organic and locally produced and you will be one of two 'front people' on the butchery counter. The role includes serving and interacting with customers about our products, and getting ideas for new products people might want to try. We pride ourselves on providing excellent customer service.

This position is part-time to be worked over 2 or 3 days per week.

The rate of pay is £13.60 per hour.

The rate of pay advertised is dependent on your skills and experience. If you join us as a trainee, the rate of pay will be lower until you complete the full training programme and reach the expected standards.

We are looking for someone who :

• has, or is willing to learn, the skills to butcher and prepare quality packed meat for sale on our butchery counter and for use in the farm shop kitchen
• can provide friendly and knowledgeable service within the farm shop
• can work co-operatively with other team members
• will maintain high standards in all aspects of their work
• has an awareness of Health and Safety matters and maintaining standards of cleanliness, hygiene and quality in the butchery
• has interest in the work and ethos of Loch Arthur
