Job summary

HCRG Care Group in Redhill is seeking a Business Support Team Leader to guide a team of six administrators within the Surrey Child and Family Health Services. You’ll drive performance, ensure timely referrals and appointments, and maintain smooth SPA operations.

The role requires strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills, with emphasis on confidentiality and collaboration with clinical teams. Hybrid working options may apply.

Qualifications

  • GCSEs including English and Maths.
  • Supervisory or management qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Previous administration experience in a busy customer-focused environment.
  • Strong planning, organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of six Administrators through supervision, training and performance support.
  • Manage workloads to ensure referrals, appointments and service requests are processed efficiently.
  • Support the smooth running of the Single Point of Access (SPA) service.
  • Oversee appointment bookings, referral processing and patient administration activities.
  • Build strong relationships with managers, clinicians and external partners.
  • Support recruitment activities including interviewing and onboarding new team members.
  • Identify opportunities for service improvement and enhance the experience for families and colleagues.

Are you an experienced administrator and people leader looking for a role where your work has a real impact on children, young people and families?

We're looking for a Business Support Team Leader to join our Surrey Child and Family Health Services team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team of dedicated administrators who play a vital role in ensuring children and families receive the support they need at the right time.

Based in our Redhill office, you'll lead a team of six Business Support Administrators delivering essential support across Redhill, Ewell and Chertsey. You'll be responsible for creating a positive, supportive and high‑performing team culture while ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of administrative services within our Single Point of Access (SPA).

Main Responsibilities

As a Business Support Team Leader, you'll be the driving force behind a busy and highly valued administration function.

You'll support your team to deliver an excellent service for clinicians, colleagues, parents, carers and partner organisations. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, motivating and developing a team of administrators through regular supervision, one-to-ones, training and performance support.
  • Managing team workloads to ensure referrals, appointments and service requests are processed efficiently.
  • Supporting the smooth running of our Single Point of Access (SPA) service.
  • Overseeing appointment bookings, referral processing and patient administration activities.
  • Building strong working relationships with managers, clinicians and external partners.
  • Handling communications professionally, sensitively and confidentially.
  • Supporting recruitment activities including interviewing and onboarding new team members.
  • Identifying opportunities for service improvement and contributing ideas that enhance the experience of families and colleagues.

Working Pattern

  • Monday to Friday
  • 9:00am to 5:00pm

Once fully trained and established in the role, and when service needs allow, there may be increased flexibility around office attendance.

Ideal Candidate

You'll be an experienced administrator with a proven ability to lead and support others in a fast-paced environment.

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Maths.
  • Supervisory or management qualification, or equivalent experience at NVQ Level 4.
  • Previous administration experience in a busy customer-focused environment.
  • Strong planning, organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Experience managing workloads and supporting team performance.
  • Understanding of HR processes and people management practices.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • Full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Experience working within health, social care or public sector services.
  • Knowledge of clinical systems and patient databases.

Other requirements: the successful applicant will need to be a car driver
