Job summary

Lancashire County Council is seeking a highly organized Business Support Officer (Grade 4) to join the Education and Children's Directorate on a full-time basis. The role is hybrid, based at Silver Birches, with a rota requiring office attendance several times per week.

It is a temporary position until 31 August 2026, offering a supportive environment to manage administrative tasks for managers, social workers, families, and the wider service.

  • The ability to listen carefully, understand individual needs and respond in a professional and respectful way.

Are you organised, proactive and committed to providing excellent support services? We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Business Support Officer to join our friendly and supportive team within Lancashire County Council's Education and Children's Directorate.

This is a rewarding opportunity to play an important role in supporting Children's Social Care. By providing high-quality administrative and business support, you will help colleagues deliver effective services for children, young people and families across Lancashire.

About the role
  • Temporary until 31/08/2026
  • Working pattern: Full time, 5 days per week
  • Base location: Silver Birches, Atlas Street, Clayton le Moors, BB5 5LT.
  • Working arrangement: Hybrid working is currently in place, with a combination of home and office working. As part of the reception function within this role, successful candidates will be required to attend the office multiple times a week as part of a rota arrangement.

The Government has confirmed that local government across Lancashire will be reorganised, with the current 15 councils being replaced by four new unitary councils covering North, South, East and West Lancashire from April 2028.

If you are successful in your application, you will initially join Lancashire County Council. However, as part of the planned transition, your employment will transfer to one of the new unitary councils from April 2028, subject to the implementation of the reorganisation and relevant employment legislation.
