Join Barnardo's CSA Centre as a Business Support Officer, playing a vital role in administrative support for various projects aimed at addressing child sexual abuse. Based in London with flexible working arrangements, this role offers the chance to contribute to important initiatives and support a dynamic team.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the friendly, dynamic team at the Centre of expertise on child sexual abuse (CSA Centre) as our new Business Support Officer. You will play a vital role in facilitating the smooth running of the CSA Centre, supporting our mission to reduce the impact of child sexual abuse through improved prevention and better response.
Reporting to the Senior Executive Officer, you will provide support across a wide range of CSA Centre projects and initiatives. The CSA Centre has a diverse and ambitious workplan, and you will work across several different teams and projects – including providing administrative support to new and ongoing research, practice improvement and training programmes, and policy and communication initiatives.
We are looking for a highly motivated and committed individual with strong skills and experience in administrative roles along with strong communication and organisational skills, and the ability to manage a challenging and varied workload to support a diverse range of objectives.
This is important work - the CSA Centre conservatively estimates that one in ten children will experience some form of child sexual abuse before age of 16, and our ambitious programme seeks to improve the knowledge, skills and confidence of professionals (social workers, teachers, social workers, nurses etc.) in identifying and responding to child sexual abuse. We have already made great progress, but there is much more to be done – and we need your help to do it!
About us
Since we were founded in 2017, the CSA Centre has sought to improve the understanding of and response to child sexual abuse. Funded by the Home Office and hosted by Barnardo's, our team collates and analyses existing research, policy, practice, and the experiences of survivors, to allow us to fill the gaps with new research, insights and analysis. With a multi-disciplinary team, we then use that evidence and insight to develop new approaches and apply learning in practice through training and resources.
We bring about change by:
By professionals, researchers, policymakers, businesses, and communities working together, we believe that we can tackle child sexual abuse.
Working arrangements
We are friendly team, with a strong culture of staff support and a commitment to well-being. We believe in creating equality of opportunity in the workplace and supporting people to manage their work-life balance; we are therefore open to offering flexible working arrangements.
The role is home based with only occasional travel required, usually to London.
The role is intended for 29 hours a week, ideally from Monday to Thursday though we would be happy to discuss these requirements with interested candidates and may be able to offer some flexibility in the working pattern. Due to the needs of the CSA Centre, the core working hours for the post are 9am to 5pm (including lunch and breaks). However, the postholder may be required to work outside these times in exceptional circumstances.
This role is currently funded until 31 March 2026, in line with the grant funding arrangements for the CSA Centre.
The CSA Centre is committed to having a diverse and inclusive workforce. We actively encourage applications from disabled candidates and candidates from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds, as they are currently under-represented at the CSA Centre.
