Job Description:

Ambition is working with a Top 20 accountancy firm in London, currently seeking a Business Services Manager to join their accounts department in a newly created role. This position offers opportunities for progression, career development, and working with a prestigious client base.

The Firm:

A top 20 accountancy and business advisory firm with offices throughout the UK, based in the City of London. The firm boasts a portfolio including multinational, listed, and owner-managed businesses. They have experienced recent organic growth and foster a collaborative culture where every voice is valued.

The Role:

The Business Services Manager will provide leadership, manage a client portfolio, and support Directors and Partners. Responsibilities include managing industries and service offerings such as management accounts, VAT, and statutory accounts, as well as planning, reviewing work, and leading team initiatives. Key duties include:

  • Reviewing management accounts, reports, and VAT returns for accuracy and compliance.
  • Reviewing statutory financial statements and work papers for correctness.
  • Overseeing VAT, EC sales lists, and Intrastat submissions, ensuring foreign compliance.
  • Responding to client queries via email or phone.
  • Managing staff workloads and conducting appraisals.
  • Monitoring budgets, overseeing billing, and reporting recovery to management.
  • Improving compliance procedures and processing routines.
  • Maintaining effective communication with clients and team members.
  • Building relationships with colleagues, supervisors, suppliers, and clients.
  • Organizing and attending client meetings.
The Candidate:

The ideal candidate is ACA or ACCA qualified with several years of post-qualification experience, managing staff within a top 20 accountancy practice with an international client base. They should demonstrate:

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
