Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is seeking a Business Services Information Officer to join a high-performing team within the Growth, Environment & Transport Department. You will administer FOI, Environmental Information and Subject Access requests, coordinating responses across the council and working with senior managers.

The role requires excellent organisational and communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to meet statutory deadlines.

Qualifications

  • NVQ3 or equivalent qualifications required.
  • Understanding of Data Protection and FOI legislation with application in professional environment.
  • Experience conducting research and producing evidence-based responses and reports.
  • High standard of verbal and written communication; ability to build relationships with colleagues and senior managers.
  • Highly organised with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and IT systems; ability to adapt to new systems.

Responsibilities

  • Administer, manage and coordinate FOI, Environmental Information and Subject Access requests.

Job description

Organisation: Leicestershire County Council

Work Location: County Hall, Glenfield, Leicester, LE3 8RA

Salary: £29,550 - £32,055 per annum (pro-rata for part-time)

Working Hours:20 hours per week

Contract Type: Permanent

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a high performing Business Services Team within the Growth, Environment & Transport Department at Leicestershire County Council.

About the Role

As a Business Services Information Officer, you will join a friendly, motivated and professional team committed to providing excellent customer service to colleagues across the department and Council, including senior management and Members.

The key component of the role consists of administering, managing and coordinating the department’s Freedom of Information, Environmental Information and Subject Access requests.You’ll be confident working with senior managers; work well under pressure; have great attention to detail, excellent organisational and communication skills; and appreciation of working according to national regulations and towards statutory deadlines.

About You

To apply for this post, you must:

  • Relevant NVQ3 or equivalent qualifications and / or demonstrable experience supporting Freedom of Information (FOI) functions and / or service information management.
  • Understanding of Data Protection and Freedom of Information legislation and information management principles, with the ability to apply this knowledge effectively in a professional working environment.
  • Experience of conducting research, analysing information from a range of sources, maintaining accurate electronic records and producing clear, evidence-based responses and reports.
  • High standard of verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships and provide advice and support to colleagues as well as senior managers and elected members.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail, with the ability to manage and prioritise a varied workload, work accurately under pressure and consistently meet challenging deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and wider IT systems, with the ability to use technology to improve efficiency, maintain data accurately and adapt to new systems and processes.
  • A collaborative and proactive team member who can work independently with minimal supervision, handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
