Job summary

VWFS is seeking an undergraduate to join the Fleet Mobility team as a Business Performance Analyst Undergraduate (Market Analyst Undergraduate). You will turn data into clear insights on vehicle utilisation and profitability to support business decisions.

This paid placement is hybrid, with in-office days and a June/July 2027 start. You will build reporting and analyses across channels, locations and operating costs, collaborating with Finance, Network Development and other teams.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree that requires a placement year.
• Strong working knowledge of Excel and general Office tools; exposure to Tableau is a plus.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to manage multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Create accurate, timely reporting on fleet utilisation, availability, downtime, maintenance costs and performance.
• Analyse revenue, profitability and total cost of ownership across vehicles, locations and channels.
• Support fleet planning and vehicle selection for new customers and locations to minimise downtime.
• Provide ad hoc analyses to identify cost savings and improve efficiency across Mobility, Finance and Quality & Change.

About The Role

Location: Milton Keynes

Salary: £23,915.49

Contract: 12-13months FTC Start dates are June/July 2027

Hybrid working: We want you to get the best out of your placement, so we operate a hybrid policy where undergraduates work in the office 3 days per week. There may be times where you will need to be in more frequently depending on the needs of the business.

We’re looking for an undergraduate to join our Fleet Mobility team as a Business Performance Analyst Undergraduate (known internally as Market Analyst Undergraduate). You’ll use data to uncover the true performance of our rental fleet, turning complex operational and commercial information into clear insights that support better business decisions. From vehicle utilisation and profitability to customer channels and operational costs, you’ll build valuable experience in reporting, analysis and continuous improvement. What will you be doing?

• Create accurate, timely and insightful reporting on vehicle utilisation, availability, downtime, damage, maintenance, fines and operational performance.
• Analyse revenue, rates, profitability and total cost of ownership across vehicles, vehicle groups, locations and sales or rental channels to identify opportunities and trends.
• Support fleet planning and vehicle selection for new customers and locations, while working with colleagues and external partners to help minimise downtime and optimise utilisation.
• Provide ad hoc analysis across Mobility, Finance, Network Development and Quality & Change, identifying ways to reduce overheads, improve efficiency and strengthen business performance.

What are we looking for?

• Currently studying an undergraduate degree that requires a placement year. We welcome applications from all degree disciplines, particularly where you can demonstrate an interest in data, business or commercial analysis.
• Good working knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Office applications, with an interest in developing your reporting skills. Exposure to Tableau would be beneficial.
• Strong analytical mindset and excellent problem-solving capabilities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to manage relationships with multiple stakeholders.
• Self -motivated, with excellent organisational skills and ability to use own initiative
• A proactive and flexible approach with the ability to react appropriately and effectively to changing circumstances and demands
• Ability to work both independently and effectively within a team
• An inquisitive, accurate and proactive approach, with the confidence to question existing ways of working, organise changing priorities and turn data into meaningful business insight.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills and willingness to learn outside everyday tasks.

What our recruitment process looks like:

• You’ll be invited to complete a Situational Judgement Test. This is a short multiple-choice question set to help us understand how you may approach situations.
• If you pass this stage, you will be invited to complete an online video interview where you will have the opportunity to tell us more about yourself.
• If successful, your last step in the journey is to attend an in-person Assessment Centre at our Milton Keynes office. You’ll also meet some of our managers and our current undergraduates to find out more about a placement year with us.
