About The Role
We're looking for a driven, proactive and commercially minded Business Development Representative (BDR) to join our growing commercial team at Agile, a specialist UK Data Consultancy.
Working closely with both our Marketing and Sales teams, you'll play a key role in generating new business opportunities and building our sales pipeline. You'll take ownership of converting marketing-generated leads into qualified opportunities, while also proactively identifying, approaching and engaging prospective enterprise clients through your own business development activities.
This is a hands‑on role for someone who enjoys prospecting, building relationships and opening doors. You'll be engaging with senior decision‑makers across UK organisations, understanding their challenges and creating opportunities for our Account Directors to progress.
Your Responsibilities
- Generate new business opportunities through proactive outbound prospecting, including cold calling, email, LinkedIn and other relevant channels.
- Work closely with Marketing to follow up and convert leads generated through campaigns, events, webinars and other marketing activities.
- Research and identify target enterprise organisations, key decision‑makers and potential opportunities aligned with Agile's services.
- Engage with senior stakeholders to understand their business challenges, priorities and potential requirements.
- Qualify inbound and outbound leads, identifying genuine business opportunities and assessing their suitability for the commercial team.
- Arrange introductory meetings and provide clear, well‑qualified handovers to Account Directors.
- Build and maintain relationships with prospective clients, nurturing opportunities that may not be ready to progress immediately.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Sales to improve outreach campaigns, messaging, target accounts and lead conversion.
- Maintain accurate prospect information, activity records and opportunity updates within the CRM.
- Take ownership of individual activity targets and contribute towards qualified meetings, pipeline generation and conversion objectives.
- Stay informed about developments across Data, Cloud, Analytics and AI to support relevant and engaging conversations with prospective clients.
About You
- Currently working as a BDR, BDM, BDE, SDR or in a similar hands‑on business development position.
- Proven experience in B2B sales, prospecting and generating new business opportunities, ideally within enterprise‑level organisations.
- A track record of engaging senior decision‑makers, building relationships and creating qualified sales opportunities.
- Comfortable with proactive outbound activity, particularly cold calling and approaching prospective clients.
- Resilient and persistent, with the confidence to handle rejection, overcome objections and maintain momentum.
- A strong commercial mindset, with the ability to recognise opportunities and understand the challenges businesses face.
- Self‑motivated, organised and comfortable taking ownership of your own pipeline and activity.
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills, with the confidence to engage stakeholders at different levels.
- A collaborative approach, comfortable working closely with Marketing and Sales to achieve shared objectives.
- Results‑driven, with a focus on generating meaningful opportunities rather than simply completing activity.
Beneficial experience
- Previous experience within a consultancy, professional services, technology services or similar B2B environment.
- An understanding of Data, Cloud, Analytics, AI or enterprise technology solutions.
- Experience working alongside Marketing teams to convert inbound leads and support targeted campaigns.
- Familiarity with CRM platforms such as Hubspot, alongside prospecting and sales engagement tools.
- Experience with account‑based prospecting, enterprise lead qualification and building multi‑stakeholder relationships.
- We would also welcome candidates from agency recruitment backgrounds who can demonstrate strong business development, proactive prospecting and client relationship‑building experience, and who are interested in moving into a wider commercial sales environment.
