Job summary

Harrington Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Business Development Manager to own a UK territory and drive growth across an established customer base. This field-based role focuses on building long-term relationships, identifying new opportunities and maximizing commercial growth throughout the territory.

You will develop existing accounts, prospect new customers, manage the sales pipeline and represent the business at industry events. A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel are required.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in business development, territory sales or account management.
  • Experience within life sciences, laboratory, healthcare, diagnostics or a related technical environment is advantageous.
  • Strong track record of developing new business and growing existing accounts.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify and develop sales opportunities.
  • Highly organised with good time management and planning skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently within a collaborative team environment.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
  • Salesforce experience is advantageous.
  • Full clean UK driving licence required.
  • Willingness to travel extensively throughout the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the allocated UK territory, developing existing accounts and identifying new business opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and key stakeholders at all levels.
  • Identify, qualify and pursue new sales opportunities within target markets.
  • Develop existing customer accounts through upselling, cross-selling and increased product adoption.
  • Arrange and conduct regular customer meetings, presentations and product discussions.
  • Develop and manage territory and account plans in line with wider business objectives.
  • Manage the sales process from initial opportunity through to negotiation and close. Maintain an accurate sales pipeline and provide regular forecasting and performance updates.
  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure customer requirements are effectively managed and delivered.
  • Attend trade shows, conferences and relevant industry events to support business development.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of the company's product portfolio, market developments and competitor activity.
  • Maintain accurate customer and sales information through CRM systems.

POSITION SUMMARY

Our client is an established international business operating within the life sciences sector, providing specialist products and solutions to customers across laboratory and scientific markets.

They are now seeking a Business Development Manager to take ownership of a UK territory and drive both new business development and growth across an established customer base. This is a field-based, customer-facing role focused on building long-term relationships, identifying new opportunities, and maximising commercial growth across the territory.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for developing existing accounts, prospecting for new customers, managing the sales pipeline, and representing the business with customers and at relevant industry events.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

We are looking for a commercially driven and self-motivated sales professional who is comfortable working independently across a large territory and building relationships with customers.
