Job summary

Mitchell Maguire Limited is seeking a Business Development Manager – Roofing Services to drive growth across the North, including Scotland. You will lead field sales of specialist roofing contractor services and build relationships with key clients.

The role covers roof refurbishment, asset management and cladding projects from £30k to £1m+, with a £40k-£55k salary plus 1% commission and an £8,500 car allowance. Occasional travel across targeted regions is required.

Qualifications

• Field sales experience in roofing.
• Experience selling contractor services or building products with services is beneficial.
• Ability to target building surveyors and end-user clients.
• Self-driven, new business oriented with high energy.
• Knowledge of liquid applied roofing or metal cladding advantageous.
• Ability to read basic technical drawings is useful.

Responsibilities

• Field sales position selling specialist roofing contractor services in the refurbishment market.
• Focus on large projects (£30k to £1m+) with blue chip clients.
• Develop and manage customer relationships to secure new business.
• Follow up via manufacturer channels and own contacts.
• Work primarily with end users and facilities managers; some engagement with FM providers.
• Travel across the North region including Scotland as required.

Job Title: Business Development Manager – Roofing Services

Industry Sector: Specialist Roofing Contractor, Refurbishment, Flat Roofing, Metal Cladding, Roofing Systems, Felts, Liquid Systems, Flat Roofing, Single Ply and Industrial Cladding Systems

Areas to be covered: North – M62 up to Scotland (possibly some work in Glasgow & Edinburgh)

Remuneration: £40,000-£55,000 Neg. + 1% commission (possible guarantee year one)

Benefits: £8,500 Car Allowance & Full Benefits

The role of the Business Development Manager – Roofing Services will involve:

• Field sales position selling specialist roofing contractor services within the roof refurbishment market
• Providing predominantly roof asset management services, but also preventative maintenance to multinational businesses across numerous sectors including;; industrial, commercial, public sector and utility organisations such as rail, power, MOD as well as food manufacturing
• Focussing on large scale projects including metal cladding or flat roofing systems into blue chip companies such as National Grid, B&Q, Scottish Power, Pfizer, United Biscuits, Glaxo, Shell, BP etc.
• Targeting anyone in charge of building properties, but predominantly building surveyors (as well as facilities managers, managing directors or external consultants (sometimes brought in buy large corporate clients)
• Projects from £30,000 up to £1m+
• Revenue target in your first full year will be approx. £1m predominantly new business, Southern area already achieving circa £12m (£17m including Scotland)
• Following up with your own contacts and some leads via manufacturers
• You will spend the majority of your time with business to business end users, and the remainder of your time with FM providers

The ideal applicant will be a Business Development Manager from the Roof Refurbishment industry with:

• Field sales proven track record in the roofing industry
• Ideally sold roofing contractor services, although our client is open to a building products if sold with services/ installations
• Will consider field sales experience with manufacturers or waterproofing products
• Ability to target building surveyor practices and other end user clients such as: property owners, procurement managers, bursars, facilities managers, managing directors and external consultants
• New business orientated
• Knowledge of liquid applied roofing, flat roofing systems or metal cladding would be advantageous
• Pragmatic attitude, following an enquiry through to order
• An understanding of design/ estimating, or an ability to read technical drawings is not essential but may be useful
• Autonomous, innovative thinker with high energy levels, passion and an attitude of going the extra mile
• Ability to absorb technical information
• Computer literate
