Business Development Manager – Focus on New Business - IT Services and Technology Deployment into Retail Clients

Location: Sheffield, Hybrid (1 day per week in office, flexible)

Our client is a dynamic IT services and technology deployment company specialising in retail sectors, partnering with major retailers. They deliver solutions including fibre, structured cabling, EPOS, access control, and AV signage, working closely with OEMs and direct clients. They pride themselves on providing comprehensive services to drive your organisation forward.

The Role

We are seeking a driven, self-starting Business Development Manager to lead new business initiatives. This role is crucial for expanding our client’s footprint by securing new logos and opening doors with OEMs and retail clients. It is a permanent role focused on new business development.

You will sell projects end-to-end — identifying opportunities, pricing, delivering proposals, and closing deals. Frequent client travel and face-to-face engagement are essential.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop new business within retail sectors, targeting OEMs and direct clients.
  • Manage the sales process for projects involving fibre, cabling, EPOS, access control, AV signage, and more.
  • Leverage existing contacts and build new relationships within IT services and technology deployment.
  • Collaborate with account managers and internal teams to support client retention and growth.
  • Conduct site surveys and work with technical specialists to scope projects accurately.
  • Manage your sales pipeline independently, demonstrating a self-starting approach.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven success in new business sales, preferably in IT services, structured cabling, or retail technology.
  • Excellent knowledge of fibre, data, EPOS, access control, or similar technologies.
  • Strong existing network or willingness to build contacts within retail and OEM markets.
  • Ability to work autonomously, manage priorities, and thrive with minimal supervision.
  • Comfortable with frequent travel and face-to-face client meetings.
  • Experience selling complex projects and negotiating with senior clients.
