Job summary

Deploy Limited in Reading is seeking a Business Development Manager to establish its UK presence in highways, civil engineering and infrastructure. The role is based in the Reading area with travel mainly across London and the South East, and occasional longer trips.

You will build the client base and pipeline, lead bids, assess pricing and contract terms, and create strategic partnerships to deliver highways design and project management services.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Business Development Manager in highways, civil engineering, rail or infrastructure sectors.
• Proven track record of winning work in these sectors.
• Driving licence required.
• Knowledge of NEC and FIDIC contracts.

Responsibilities

• Create a robust business development plan, with a focus on target clients and frameworks.
• Analyse the market and competitors to identify opportunities.
• Identify and qualify opportunities with public sector organisations, local authorities, and tier 1/2 contractors and consultancies.
• Regularly review tender portals and frameworks for opportunities.
• Create and lead bids, managing pre-qualifications, tenders, analysis and fee proposals.
• Liaise with internal teams and incorporate input to make commercially sound decisions.
• Assess pricing, contract terms and risks under NEC and FIDIC contracts; negotiate toward contract award.
• Create and nurture partnerships and joint ventures with UK companies for highways design and project management services.
• Act as an ambassador for the company in meetings and industry events.

An emerging name in the UK engineering and infrastructure sectors, with a focus on the rail, highways and water industries, requires a Business Development Manager. This is a key early hire as the organisation builds its UK presence. The role is based in the Reading area, with travel mainly across London and the South East, but also further afield when necessary.

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for building the organisation's client base and pipeline, initially focusing on the highways sector.

The role:

• Create a robust business development plan, with a focus on target clients and frameworks

• Identify and qualify opportunities with public sector organisations (such as local authorities), as well as tier 1 / tier 2 contractors and consultancies

• Assess pricing, contract terms and risks under FIDIC and NEC contracts
• Play an active part in negotiations through to contract award
• Create and nurture partnerships and joint ventures with UK companies for the delivery of highways design and project management services
• Act as an ambassador for the company - taking part in meetings and industry events

Requirements:

• Previous experience as a Business Development Manager in the highways, civil engineering, rail or infrastructure sectors, selling an organisation's engineering and project management services
• Proven track record of successfully winning work in these sectors
• Driving licence
• Knowledge and experience of NEC and FIDIC contracts
