DeterTech Holdings Limited is seeking a Business Development Manager - Construction to drive profitable revenue growth by acquiring and developing new customer opportunities within the UK. The role reports to Jemima Price and focuses on national or regional opportunities across varied locations. The BDM will build strong relationships, manage major bids, and lead commercial negotiations to deliver sustainable growth.

Qualifications

Location: Varied

Hours: 37.5 per week

The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for driving profitable revenue growth through the acquisition and development of new customer opportunities. Working within an assigned territory or market segment, the BDM will identify prospects, build strong customer relationships, and secure new business aligned to company objectives. Depending on remit, this role may focus on regional business development or on larger corporate and multi-site opportunities. In all cases, the role is focused on proactive sales activity, value-based selling, and delivering sustainable commercial growth.

Key Accountabilities
Business Development & Growth
  • Identify, target, and secure new business from a defined portfolio.
  • Develop and execute business development strategies aligned with growth objectives and revenue targets.
  • Build a robust pipeline of high-value opportunities through proactive market engagement and strategic prospecting.
  • Drive account growth through cross-selling, upselling, and long-term account development plans.
Strategic Account Management
  • Act as the strategic lead and primary point of contact for assigned customers.
  • Build and maintain senior-level relationships with key decision-makers and influencers.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction, retention, and contract renewal through proactive engagement.
  • Represent the voice of the customer internally to influence service delivery and continuous improvement.
Commercial & Bid Leadership
  • Work alongside the Field Sales Manager to coordinate bids, tenders, and proposals for complex, large-scale, and multi-site contracts.
  • Manage contract negotiations, pricing strategies, and commercial agreements to ensure profitable outcomes.
  • Navigate complex sales cycles, balancing commercial risk with long-term value creation.
  • Ensure contractual commitments are clearly understood and effectively transitioned to operational teams.
Collaboration & Market Insight
  • Work closely with Sales, Customer Solution Specialists, Operations, Marketing, and Customer Success teams to ensure a seamless customer experience.
  • Analyse market trends, competitor activity, and customer insights to identify growth opportunities and risks.
  • Share best practice and market intelligence to support wider business strategy and alignment.
Experience, Skills & Behaviours
  • Proven experience in business development, ideally within a comparable B2B environment.
  • Demonstrated success in winning and growing large-scale or multi-site customer accounts.
  • Strong experience managing complex sales cycles, bids, tenders, and commercial negotiations.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills, with the credibility to operate at senior and executive level.
  • High level of commercial acumen, with the ability to interpret data, market trends, and financial drivers. Confident, persuasive communicator with strong presentation, negotiation, and written skills.
  • Self-motivated, resilient, and comfortable operating autonomously within a national remit.
  • Highly organised, adaptable, and able to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Forward-thinking and solutions-focused, with a passion for delivering longterm value.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales, or a related discipline – desirable
