Job summary

Search is seeking a Business Development Manager to drive growth across Scotland and the North of England. The role focuses on opening new markets in Healthcare, Education, Local Government and wider Public Sector, building relationships with key decision-makers, and navigating framework-led procurement processes.

You will work with bids, marketing and business development teams to expand the company’s presence in new sectors and deliver long-term revenue opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Experience selling into public sector environments or framework-driven procurement.
  • Proven track record of winning new business and developing strategic client relationships.
  • Strong commercial awareness and strategic thinking capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a business development strategy across Scotland and the North of England.
  • Identify opportunities through procurement portals, frameworks and tendering platforms.
  • Build relationships with decision-makers, procurement teams and key stakeholders across target sectors.
  • Generate new business opportunities across the company’s technical and support services.
  • Support and contribute to framework and tender submissions with internal bid teams.
  • Attend networking events, industry conferences and sector forums to develop relationships and raise brand awareness.
  • Maintain an active pipeline and provide accurate forecasting to senior management.
  • Conduct market and competitor analysis to identify opportunities.
  • Collaborate with operations to develop client-focused solutions.
  • Drive sustainable revenue growth and support long-term expansion strategy.

Job description

Location: Glasgow (covering Scotland & North England)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm

Travel: Regular travel and overnight stays required

About the Business

Our client is an established and growing technical services organisation with a strong reputation for delivering complex projects and support services across multiple sectors throughout the UK.

Following continued success within their core markets, the business is entering an exciting phase of growth and is looking to appoint a Business Development Manager to help drive expansion into new sectors and client groups.

This is a newly created role offering the opportunity to shape a long-term growth strategy, build key relationships and play a significant role in the next stage of the company's development.

The Role

Reporting into the senior leadership team, you will be responsible for identifying, developing and securing new business opportunities across Scotland and the North of England.

This is a strategic business development role focused on opening new markets and creating long-term revenue opportunities. You will be responsible for identifying opportunities within Healthcare, Retail, Education, Local Government and wider Public Sector organisations, building relationships with key decision-makers and navigating framework and procurement-led sales processes.

Working closely with the bids, marketing and business development functions, you will play a key role in establishing a stronger presence within new sectors while contributing to the company's wider growth strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a business development strategy focused on Healthcare, Education, Local Government and Public Sector organisations.
  • Identify opportunities through procurement portals, frameworks and tendering platforms.
  • Build relationships with decision-makers, procurement teams and key stakeholders across target sectors.
  • Generate new business opportunities across the company's range of technical and support services.
  • Support and contribute to framework and tender submissions alongside internal bid teams.
  • Attend networking events, industry conferences and sector-specific forums to develop new relationships and raise brand awareness.
  • Maintain an active pipeline of opportunities and provide accurate forecasting to senior management.
  • Conduct market and competitor analysis to identify emerging opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with operational teams to develop solutions that meet client needs.
  • Drive sustainable revenue growth and support the long-term expansion strategy of the business.
About You

We're particularly interested in speaking with commercially minded business development professionals who have experience selling into public sector environments or operating within framework-driven procurement processes.

  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively across Scotland and the North of England.
  • Experience selling into Healthcare, Education, Local Government or Public Sector organisations.
  • Knowledge of public sector procurement and framework agreements.
  • Experience supporting tender and bid processes.Understanding of framework-led sales environments.
