Job description

Business Development Manager (BDM-10.26)

CLOSING DATE FOR THIS VACANCY: 26 OCTOBER 2026 AT 3.00PM

This is not your average business development role.

This is a blank canvas, a big opportunity, and a chance to be right at the heart of change for young people experiencing homelessness across South Yorkshire.

As part of Roundabout’s Fundraising team, you’ll lead the charge in growing our corporate partnerships, connecting with brilliant businesses, inspiring them to get involved, and showing them just how powerful their support can be. You’ll research, identify and approach key decision-makers, opening conversations around Corporate Social Responsibility and creating meaningful partnerships that go far beyond a logo on a leaflet.

You’ll take ownership of our existing corporate supporters, nurturing long‑term relationships, keeping them engaged with our work, and helping them see the real, human impact of their support on the lives of young people in our community. At the same time, you’ll be out there building new relationships, motivating companies to fundraise with us, sponsor events, or become long‑term partners in our mission.

Creativity is key. Whether it’s developing imaginative fundraising ideas, supporting businesses to run their own initiatives, or bringing fresh energy to exciting events like Krazy Races in Sheffield, you’ll be encouraged to think big and try new things. With Roundabout heading into a landmark anniversary year in 2027, this is a hugely exciting moment to join the charity and help shape its future.

We’re looking for someone with experience in business development, sales, account management or a similar relationship‑focused role, someone confident in approaching senior stakeholders and passionate about building meaningful, lasting partnerships. Most importantly, you’ll be a natural ambassador for Roundabout: enthusiastic, values‑driven, and genuinely motivated by making a difference.

This role plays a vital part in growing Roundabout’s corporate income and ensuring the long‑term sustainability of our work, so that more young people can have a safe place to live, support to rebuild their lives, and hope for the future.

If you love building relationships, have a head full of ideas, and want your work to genuinely matter, we’d love to hear from you.

What you’ll be doing:

This role is all about building relationships, opening doors and creating opportunities that help change young lives. As Business Development Manager, you’ll lead the growth of Roundabout’s corporate fundraising, bringing energy, creativity and ambition to how we engage with the business community across South Yorkshire.

  • Be the driving force behind Roundabout’s corporate fundraising growth across South Yorkshire, identifying and securing new business opportunities aligned with our long‑term strategy.
  • Act as the recognised face of Roundabout within the business community, building visibility, credibility and excitement around our work with young people experiencing homelessness.
  • Build, nurture and steward strong, long‑lasting relationships with businesses, funders and partners, engaging confidently with stakeholders at every level.
  • Proactively research, pursue and convert new leads, opening doors, developing partnerships and creating sustainable income streams.
  • Work closely with the Fundraising Manager to shape strategy, budgets, goals and growth plans across the department.
  • Help design and deliver long‑term corporate partnerships that maximise income, impact and lifetime value.
  • Represent Roundabout at networking events, conferences, presentations and talks, raising awareness and inspiring support.
  • Deliver compelling pitches and presentations, positioning Roundabout as a charity of choice, including charity‑of‑the‑year opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Events Fundraising Manager to support and grow regional events, helping to ensure their success locally and beyond.
  • Track progress, share insights and provide regular development updates to the Leadership Team and Board.
  • Stay informed on sector trends and opportunities, bringing fresh ideas and innovation into the role.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records on Etapestry, ensuring excellent stewardship and relationship management.
  • Maximise income from corporate and business relationships across all areas Roundabout operates, identifying opportunities for deeper engagement and high‑value support.
Other Duties
  • Undertake relevant internal and external training
  • Work with an understanding of and adhere to Roundabout’s policies and procedures
  • Have a commitment to equal opportunities, ensuring services are accessible to all sections of the community
