We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Manager to join our team. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with a strong background in L&D sales, a proven track record of winning new business, and the ability to work independently while representing the Reed Learning brand with professionalism and integrity.

Key responsibilities

  • Identify, target, and secure new business opportunities across all Reed Learning products and services.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans to achieve sales targets and expand our customer base.
  • Establish Reed Learning as a trusted partner and first-choice provider for clients, building lasting relationships with new and existing customers.
  • Represent the company at industry events, including conferences, trade shows, and networking opportunities, to enhance brand presence and foster new relationships.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to tailor solutions that meet client needs and align with our product offerings.
  • Develop and deliver persuasive presentations and tailored proposals to prospective clients, effectively showcasing Reed Learning’s full suite of offerings.
  • Produce insightful reports that communicate business development outcomes and strategic recommendations to internal stakeholders.
  • Provide accurate sales forecasts and regularly report on key performance indicators to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Conduct market research to stay informed on industry trends, competitors, and customer needs, translating insights into strategies that drive business growth.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development, including participation in staff training and staying informed about sector trends and legislative changes relevant to the L&D industry.

Skills and experience

  • Proven experience in business development or sales within the Learning & Development or education sector.
  • Demonstrable success in winning new business and exceeding sales targets.
  • Strong networking skills with the ability to build and nurture long-term relationships.
  • Experience working with decision-makers at various levels, with a consultative approach and the ability to adapt to clients’ unique values and requirements.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Strong organisational skills, with a focus on time management, planning, and attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Professional, credible, and confident in representing a respected brand.
  • Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to identifying and capitalising on opportunities.
  • Ability to work effectively with CRM systems and sales performance tools.
