Employment Type: Permanent

Location: London, UK

Reporting To: Sales Director

Description

We see a world where we all contribute to a thriving planet and together, we are a collective force for good. The Planet Mark is a sustainability certification which recognises outstanding achievements, encourages action, and builds an empowered community of like‑minded individuals. We work with businesses to rigorously measure their carbon footprint and social value, engage their staff and supply chain to unlock their knowledge and drive passion for change, and communicate their progress to build a positive brand. We help businesses put a purpose at the heart of their organisation that brings social, environmental, and economic considerations together.

Join a high‑energy, purpose‑driven team dedicated to helping businesses thrive through sustainability. As a Business Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in accelerating our growth by partnering with organisations on their sustainability journeys. Leveraging your understanding of sustainability in business, you’ll uncover client needs, develop and close high‑value opportunities, and successfully sell our market‑ready solutions. You’ll also identify opportunities to introduce additional services and packages that deliver deeper impact, long‑term value, and measurable outcomes for our clients.

What that means day to day
  • Meeting monthly sales targets as set by the board
  • Lead generation and lead progression
  • Respond to, and progress, incoming leads from phone calls, website enquiries and MQLs within 24 hours of receipt
  • Manage lead progression to make sales of the Business Certification to meet agreed targets
  • Product knowledge – to know and be able to effectively explain and sell all TPM products
  • Liaise and work closely with the marketing team to ensure target markets are receiving attention
  • Weekly meetings with the Sales Director to report progress against targets and discuss strategies for target customers
What you’ll need to be successful

Demonstrated experience in selling business services and/or SaaS solutions, with a strong track record of closing sales and achieving revenue targets. Brings solid knowledge and practical experience in sustainability and environmental practices, ideally supported by a relevant qualification, and the ability to align sustainability‑led solutions with clear commercial value. Skilled in intelligent lead sourcing within target sectors and managing opportunities across the full sales cycle. Confident in maintaining accurate CRM records, with hands‑on experience using Microsoft Dynamics to track pipeline activity and performance. Highly comfortable in a consultative telesales environment, engaging decision‑makers via video and telephone to build trust, identify needs, and deliver outcomes that drive both business growth and positive environmental impact.
