Job summary

Contract Scotland in Glasgow seeks a proactive business development professional to identify and win new opportunities across Scotland's construction and property markets.

You will build relationships with clients, consultants and developers, represent the business at industry events and drive a strong opportunity pipeline.

The role is office-based with regular travel to client meetings and industry events, offering growth within a growing team.

Qualifications

  • Experience in business development within construction, property or the built environment.
  • Strong knowledge of the Scottish construction/property market.
  • Established network of clients, consultants, developers or industry contacts.
  • Proven ability to develop relationships and generate new business opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities across the Scottish construction and property market.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, consultants, developers and other stakeholders.
  • Develop a strong pipeline of future opportunities and work with the team to win projects.
  • Research market activity, upcoming developments and procurement opportunities in Scotland.
  • Attend client meetings, networking events, conferences and industry functions.
  • Support bids and tenders with market and competitor insights.
  • Collaborate with estimating, commercial and operations teams in the bid process.
  • Maintain records of opportunities, contacts and activity in the CRM.
  • Stay up to date with the Scottish construction market and growth areas.
  • Represent the business professionally when meeting clients and contacts.

Location: Glasgow / Central Scotland

Working Pattern: Full-time, office-based with regular client and industry meetings

What You'll Do
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities across the Scottish construction and property market.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients, consultants, developers and other key stakeholders.
  • Develop a strong pipeline of future opportunities and work with the wider team to convert these into secured projects.
  • Research market activity, upcoming developments and procurement opportunities across Scotland.
  • Attend client meetings, networking events, conferences and industry functions to develop relationships and generate new opportunities.
  • Support bids and tenders by providing customer, market and competitor insight.
  • Work closely with estimating, commercial and operational teams throughout the work-winning process.
  • Maintain accurate records of opportunities, contacts and activity within the CRM.
  • Keep up to date with the Scottish construction market and identify areas for future growth.
  • Represent the business professionally when meeting clients and industry contacts.
What You'll Need
  • Experience in business development within construction, property or the built environment.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the Scottish construction/property market.
  • An established network of relevant clients, consultants, developers or industry contacts.
  • Proven ability to develop relationships and generate new business opportunities.
  • Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of how construction projects are procured.
  • Excellent communication, networking and presentation skills.
  • A proactive and self-motivated approach, with the ability to work independently.
  • Good organisational and CRM skills.
  • The confidence to engage with senior clients and stakeholders.
