Finance Business Partner

About our Team


This is a role with a real opportunity to make a difference. Use your analytical skills to help provide Business Decision Support to STMJ Health and Medical Science (HMS) – a global team responsible for approximately 1,000 journal titles (Human and Animal), with 100+ FTEs and revenues in excess of $200 million. With continuously changing business needs you will use your analysis skills to provide financial insights for decision making and help HMS to make the right business decisions.

About the Role

You will work with a variety of departments throughout the company including Publishing, Society Business Development, Sales, Operations, Procurement and Finance’s GFS and Centre of Expertise. You will be a business partner to Publishing Directors and Publishers for finance related matters - providing finance analysis and reviews, assisting with some finance models, training new publishers, providing oversight for royalty statements, and playing a pro-active role in the further improvement of management information for decision making. Your ability to build and foster connections and communications with the business will be pivotal to success.

Responsibilities

  • Providing finance analysis and reviews

  • Ensuring control process are maintained and improved

  • Safeguarding the quality of data supplied to the business

  • Working on ad-hoc projects.

  • Assisting the Finance Manager with the budgeting and forecasting P&L processes

  • Assisting in developing the financials for the strategic plan

Requirements

  • Educational Level: Financial Degree /Diploma, CIMA / ACCA qualification.

  • Experience: Significant experience in a commercially facing Senior Finance Analyst role and of coordinating analysis. Publishing industry or Elsevier experience is considered a plus.

  • System Knowledge: Advanced Excel and ORACLE system knowledge.

  • Interpersonal skills: excellent communication skills, collaboration and teamwork, critical thinking & convincing.

  • Personal drive: technical & professional expertise, practice self-development, ability to work in culturally diverse environment, curious mindset.

  • Results orientated: customer focused, drives for results, problem solver, analytical and structured, ability to work to tight deadlines, planning and organizing skills.

  • Strong English skills (spoken and written).
