Job summary

Cardiff Council is recruiting for a senior role within its Education Catering Service to drive the delivery of school meals across Cardiff’s primary, secondary and special education settings.

You will shape future school food provision by developing nutritious, affordable offers, aligning with national and local priorities, and working with schools, parents and suppliers to ensure sustainability and accessibility.

• Experience in a management role with strong project management and organisational skills.
• Experience within catering, hospitality, food service or education catering.
• Ability to analyse performance data and identify opportunities for improvement.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of Welsh Government priorities for School Food, including Universal Free School Meals expansion.

• Lead projects to increase meal uptake and expand catering into ALN settings.
• Monitor and evaluate business improvement initiatives to ensure efficiency and financial stability.

Our vision is to enhance theeducational experience of children and young people across Cardiff by ensuring they receivethe best possible mealtime experience.

This exciting role will support the delivery of emerging Welsh Government priorities for School Food, including the continued expansion of Universal Free School Meals and the development of new approaches to increase meal uptake across primary, secondary and specialist education settings. You will play a key role in shaping the future of school food provision across Cardiff by developing attractive, nutritious and affordable food offers, driving innovation, improving customer experience and supporting transformational change throughout the service.

Working closely with schools, pupils, parents, suppliers and colleagues, you will help ensure Cardiff's school meal service remains financially sustainable, customer focused and aligned with national and local strategic priorities.

As part of the role, you will support delivery and drive initiatives that increase school meal uptake across all schools, lead projects that enhance accessibility of schools meals and the expansion of the catering services into new ALN educational settings. Monitor and evaluate business improvement initiatives, ensuring service remains efficient, compliant and financially stable.

What We Are Looking For From You

We are seeking someone with proven experience in a management role with strong project management and organisational skills. Experience within catering, hospitality, food service, education catering or a related environment and the ability to analyse performance data and identify opportunities for improvement.
