Sagoss Group in Henley-on-Thames is hiring a Business Analyst / Systems Analyst to take ownership of customer requirements and shape practical, buildable solutions. You will work closely with developers and clients to move projects forward with clarity and pace.

The role combines client engagement with hands-on technical analysis, using JIRA, SQL and process improvement. You’ll help improve how requirements are managed and contribute to stronger ways of working across the business.

Qualifications

• Previous Business Analyst experience in a software or IT-based business.
• Proven experience writing functional and technical specifications, user stories and change requests.
• Strong understanding of software development, code, databases and the software development lifecycle.
• Confident daily use of JIRA and experience of Agile ways of working.
• Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Strong client-facing communication, active listening, presentation and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical clients.
• Strong organisation with the ability to manage multiple clients, priorities and deadlines.
• High level of IT literacy, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio or similar.

Responsabilités

• Lead client meetings and workshops, uncover business needs and explain solutions clearly.
• Analyse requests against existing functionality, map processes and data flows, assess impact, risk and effort.
• Write functional and technical specifications, user stories and acceptances, manage change requests end-to-end.
• Read and understand code, database structures and logs, discuss solutions and validate data with SQL.
• Maintain a prioritised backlog in JIRA, manage timelines across clients and projects.
• Write test scenarios, support UAT and release, prepare release notes and handover information.
• Improve templates, standards and processes and share knowledge across the team.
• Collaborate with developers and internal teams, and travel to client sites when needed.

The Business Analyst / Systems Analyst will take real ownership of customer requirements, shaping ideas into practical, buildable solutions and helping projects move forward with clarity and pace.

Working at the heart of a collaborative technology team, the Business Analyst / Systems Analyst will combine client engagement with hands-on technical analysis, JIRA, SQL and process improvement.

The Business Analyst / Systems Analyst will have the freedom to improve how requirements are managed and help shape stronger ways of working across the business.

DUTIES

• Requirements Gathering and Client Engagement: Lead client meetings and workshops, uncover business needs and explain supported, cost-effective solutions clearly
• Analysis and Solution Design: Analyse requests against existing functionality, map processes and data flows, assess impact, risk and effort, and work with developers on practical solutions
• Specifications and Change Requests: Write functional and technical specifications, user stories and acceptance criteria, and manage change requests from initial request through approval, build, testing and release
• Technical Analysis: Read and understand code, database structures and logs sufficiently to discuss solutions and investigate issues, using SQL or similar tools to query and validate data
• JIRA and Prioritisation: Maintain a complete, prioritised backlog, manage timelines across clients and projects, and report progress, risks and blockers
• Testing, Release and Handover: Write test scenarios, support system and user acceptance testing, confirm delivered changes meet specification, and prepare release notes and handover information
• Continuous Improvement: Improve templates, standards and processes, identify recurring client needs and share knowledge across the team
• Client and Team Collaboration: Work closely with developers and internal teams, manage expectations professionally and support occasional travel to client sites

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL

• Previous Business Analyst experience in a software or IT-based business
• Proven experience writing functional and technical specifications, user stories and change requests
• Strong understanding of software development, code, databases and the software development lifecycle
• Confident daily use of JIRA and experience of Agile ways of working
• Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases
• Strong client-facing communication, active listening, presentation and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical clients
• Strong organisation with the ability to manage multiple clients, priorities and deadlines
• High level of IT literacy, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio or similar

DESIRABLE

• Hands-on programming experience or a background in development, testing or technical support
• Understanding of APIs, integrations and data formats such as REST, JSON and XML
• Experience with SaaS or configurable platforms used by multiple clients
• Experience in parking, transport, local authority or NHS environments
• Business analysis certification such as BCS or IIBA, or a degree in computing or a related field
