Job summary

UKRI in Swindon (or Newport) is seeking an experienced Business Analyst on a 12 month fixed-term contract. You will lead requirements gathering for the change portfolio, work with clients and users, and produce BR and functional specifications to support ERP and business change initiatives.

The role requires strong BA techniques, ERP project experience in the public sector, and the ability to analyse data and map processes. On-site work in either Swindon or Newport is expected.

Qualifications

• Proven track record as a Business Analyst, providing business, technical and commercial analysis for ERP systems and/or business change within the public sector.
• Excellent knowledge of business analysis techniques and tools, ideally in an OUM or AIM project delivery environment.
• Strong self-sufficiency and initiative on ERP projects with multi-tasking and prioritisation.

Responsibilities

• Lead and document requirements gathering for projects, including planning, organising work, and engaging with clients and users.
• Elicit requirements for custom development using varied techniques.
• Review and analyse documentation and processes, use cases, etc.
• Produce Business Requirements, Functional Specifications, Use Cases and screen designs.
• Assist feasibility studies noting business, technical and commercial options.
• Undertake data analysis including ETL, mapping and interpretation of HR, payroll and financial data.
• Perform gap analysis and business process mapping; provide SME input.
• Liaise between business units, project teams and support teams.

It’s an exciting time to be part of UKSBS as we transform our business to be the leading UK public sector business service provider. We aim to become a very different organisation over the next few years as we move to a modern multi-platform, digitally enabled organisation.

We are now seeking experienced Business Analysts to provide analysis and support of the change portfolio projects, utilising effective business analysis disciplines and techniques to achieve this. These particular roles will be focused on onboarding analysis for our new customers.

Duties will include, but are not limited to the following:

• Lead and document the requirements gathering process for projects including planning and organising the work, engaging with clients and users
• Elicit requirements for custom development and enhancements using a variety of techniques
• Review and analysis of documentation and process descriptions, use cases, etc
• Produce Business Requirements, Functional Specifications, Use Cases, Screen Designs and other artefacts as required
• Play a key role in feasibility studies including documentation and critical analysis of options from business, technical and commercial perspectives
• Undertake data analysis and extract, transform and load of data including required mapping and interpretation
• Perform gap analysis, business process mapping, and provide subject matter expertise
• Liaise between business units, project teams and support teams

To do this role well you will need:

• Proven track record as a Business Analyst, providing business, technical and commercial analysis for large scale ERP systems and/or Business Change development, preferably from within Public Sector
• Excellent knowledge of business analysis techniques and tools, ideally gained within an OUM or AIM project delivery environment
• Strong self-sufficiency and initiative working on ERP projects with the ability to multi-task and prioritise effectively
• Knowledge of data migration including data cleansing, mapping, extraction, transformation, loading of HR & Payroll and Financial data.
• Demonstrable ERP systems experience, preferably working as part of a team implementing large ERP systems
• A formal Business Analysis Qualification would be advantageous
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship skills – both internal & external
• First class written and oral communication skills
• Strong analytical skills required, including the ability to interpret business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements
