An established industry player is seeking a dedicated Building Surveyor to join their Disability & Home Improvement Team. This role is crucial in enhancing the living conditions of older and vulnerable residents, ensuring they can live independently in their homes. The ideal candidate will possess a relevant degree and have a strong understanding of domestic construction, along with the ability to diagnose defects and manage projects effectively. An opportunity has arisen for a building surveyor to join the Royal Greenwich Disability & Home Improvement Team. The team provides building surveying services across all tenures, with a focus on supporting older and vulnerable borough residents to live independently in their own homes by adapting or improving their environment.
This rewarding job will suit applicants who have a strong commitment to the delivery of high quality services to vulnerable people and an understanding of housing problems faced by older people and those with disabilities.
You will need to have a relevant degree in building surveying or a building related subject, (MRICS or MCIOB preferred) or HNC/HND or equivalent with extensive relevant experience in building surveying. Ideally, you will also be working towards corporate membership of the RICS, CIOB or CABE.
The successful candidate will have a detailed knowledge and understanding of domestic construction and will be able to apply the core building surveying disciplines; defect diagnosis and specification of remedial works; site surveying; design of alterations and preparation of drawings and specifications; contract administration; project / cost management and the supervision of contractors. An understanding of and ability to apply all relevant legislation is also essential.
