Building Careers UK Ltd is seeking a Building Surveyor for the Liverpool area. You will work on residential, commercial and mixed-use properties, undertaking surveys, condition assessments and defect analysis, supporting refurbishment projects and contract administration.

You will develop through closer collaboration with Directors, gaining experience toward RICS chartership while enjoying a hybrid working pattern and a varied North West project load.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a Building Surveying role.
• Degree in Building Surveying or a closely related discipline.
• Strong technical understanding of building construction and defects.
• Experience with property inspections and preparing professional reports.
• Exposure to dilapidations, schedules of condition or landlord and tenant matters advantageous.

About the Company

Our client is an established building and project consultancy providing professional advice across building surveying, property and construction.

With a strong focus on practical, commercially minded advice, the business works across a varied portfolio of residential, commercial and mixed-use properties. The Liverpool team is growing and is looking to appoint a Building Surveyor who is keen to develop their technical expertise, take increasing ownership of instructions and build a long-term career within a supportive consultancy environment.

The Role

As a Building Surveyor, you will work across a varied mix of professional building surveying and project instructions, gaining exposure to everything from inspections and defect diagnosis through to refurbishment, remedial works and project delivery.

You will be involved in carrying out surveys and site inspections, preparing professional reports and specifications, advising clients on defects and maintenance requirements, and supporting projects through to completion.

The role will also provide exposure to fa ade and cladding work, dilapidations, schedules of condition and landlord and tenant matters, alongside a broader range of building surveying services.

Working closely with experienced surveyors and Directors, you will have the opportunity to take on greater responsibility as your experience develops, while continuing to build your professional experience and progress towards RICS chartership where applicable.

The role is based from the Liverpool office, with some hybrid working available and a mixture of office, site and home working. The majority of projects will be across the North West, with occasional travel further afield.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertaking a broad range of building surveying instructions across residential, commercial and mixed-use properties
• Carrying out building surveys, condition surveys and site inspections
• Investigating defects and identifying appropriate remedial solutions
• Preparing professional reports, schedules of work and specifications
• Advising clients on building condition, maintenance and refurbishment requirements
• Supporting fa ade and cladding-related inspections and remediation projects
• Preparing schedules of condition and dilapidation reports
• Supporting landlord and tenant instructions
• Assisting with refurbishment and remedial projects from feasibility through to completion
• Supporting contract administration and project delivery
• Assisting with tendering and procurement processes
• Monitoring works, contractor progress, quality and costsLiaising with clients, contractors, consultants and other stakeholders
• Attending site meetings and inspections
• Contributing to design, cost and technical discussions
• Maintaining accurate project and professional records
• Managing multiple instructions and deadlines effectively
• Working closely with senior surveyors and Directors to deliver high-quality advice
• Taking on increasing responsibility as your experience develops

The Ideal Candidate

• Proven experience within a Building Surveying role
• Relevant degree or equivalent qualification in Building Surveying or a closely related discipline
• Strong technical understanding of building construction and defects
• Experience carrying out property inspections and preparing professional reports
• Experience with defect diagnosis and remedial recommendations
• Exposure to refurbishment, maintenance or project work
• Experience with commercial and/or residential property desirable
• Exposure to dilapidations, schedules of condition or landlord and tenant matters advantageous
• Experience in fa ade and cladding-related work desirable
• Experience in high rise/apartment work ideal
• Experience supporting project management or contract administration advantageous
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Good client-facing and stakeholder management ability
• Highly organised with strong attention to detail
• Comfortable managing multiple instructions and deadlines
• Working towards RICS, APC, or recently chartered preferred
• Ambitious and looking to build a long-term career within consultancy
• Full UK Driving Licence
