Overview

Sunderland Care and Support is a local authority trading company owned by Sunderland City Council, which provides a wide range of services to support vulnerable adults and children to lead the lives they choose. This is an opportunity to join a highly motivated and supportive team within the Home Improvement Agency. This team provides a service that supports customers to maintain, repair, adapt or extend their homes and manage projects in group homes or commercial buildings.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out detailed property surveys and identifying building defects
• Giving technical advice and preparing schedules of work and computer generated plans
• Following a tender process, valuation of works and project management
• Carrying out site inspections, quality control and authorising interim and final payments

Qualifications

Candidates must have experience of working in the construction industry, a good knowledge of property repair, renovation, adaptation, excellent communication and analytical skills and one of the following:

• HNC in construction (or equivalent)
• A degree in building surveying

The successful candidate must be a well organised self‑motivated individual who can work on their own initiative as well as being a part of the surveying team.
