Job summary

Ridge and Partners in Leeds is seeking a Building Surveyor to join our team. The role covers professional and project-related building surveying across educational, commercial, industrial sectors, with opportunities to progress within a motivated, experienced group.

You will work on design, clerk of works, contract administration, dilapidations, and maintenance planning, delivering projects and maintaining strong client relations.

Qualifications

• Full driving licence is required.
• Good IT skills with Outlook, Word, Excel; familiarity with AutoCAD and NBS.
• Able to work in a team and be proactive.
• Experience in building surveying or related field is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Delivering projects, commissions, and professional services.
• Maintaining effective communication to provide information for project success.
• Representing the company professionally and engaging with clients at networking events.
• Assist with building surveys, site on-site particulars, meetings, specifications, estimates, maintenance planning, and contract administration.
• Support the Building Surveying team on complex multi-disciplinary schemes.
• Assist with analysing and reporting on building defects.
• Support with schedules of dilapidations and settlement negotiations.
• Assist with on-site supervision of building work.
• Provide advice on design, construction, maintenance, repair and refurbishment of properties.

We have a depth and breadth of experience, expertise, and local knowledge to support our clients at every stage of property investment, ownership, and occupation from acquisition to disposal. The successful candidate will be part of a team of building surveyors covering all aspects of professional and project related building surveying across a wide range of sectors including educational, commercial, industrial etc.

The role will cover the full spectrum of building surveying services including (but not limited to) design and specification, clerk of works, contract administration surveys and dilapidations.

What you need to do to be effective in this role

• Delivering projects, commissions, and profession services.
• Maintaining effective communication to ensure all information is available for successful completion of the projects.
• Represent the company in a profession and diligent manner and help to promote Ridge and Partners by engaging with clients and attending networking events.
• Assist with the undertake building surveys, taking particulars on site, attending meetings, writing up specifications, obtaining estimates, planning maintenance programmes, and administering contracts for maintenance work.
• Support the Building Surveying team on complex multi-disciplinary schemes
• Help with Analysing and reporting on building defects
• Support the Building Surveyors with preparing schedules of dilapidations and negotiate settlements
• Assist with the supervision of building work on site
• Assisting the Building Surveyors with providing advice on the design, construction, maintenance, repair and refurbishment of all types of property

As a Building Surveyor at Ridge and Partners you will need to demonstrate the desire, drive and a real enthusiasm to becoming a Chartered Building Surveyor which will be fully supported by the company (the national Ridge APC support process) and the local Building Surveying Team.

You will need to be personable, presentable and have good communication skills in this client facing role. An ability to produce your own documentation based on our standards is essential, as is an ability to organise, manage your time efficiently in the delivery of the services for multiple projects at any one time.
