Job summary

Greenacre Recruitment Ltd is seeking an experienced Building Surveyor to deliver planned investment and major works across a residential portfolio in South London/Surrey, with a focus on building safety and compliance.

You will lead capital projects from inception to completion, manage budgets, coordinate contractors, and maintain high standards of quality and safety while engaging with residents and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Degree in Building Surveying, Construction or related discipline.
• RICS/CIOB membership desirable.
• Fire/Energy/Building Safety qualifications advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead major investment projects including capital replacements, cyclical refurbishment schemes and mechanical & electrical installations.
• Manage contractors, consultants and suppliers, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and provide value for money.
• Prepare specifications, tender documentation, project designs and technical reports.
• Manage budgets, cost control, tender evaluations and financial reporting.
• Undertake building inspections, stock condition surveys, defect diagnosis and quality assurance inspections.
• Perform Building Safety Manager responsibilities across designated schemes.
• Support fire safety programmes, including Fire Risk Assessments and remediation activities.
• Contribute to sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives, supporting long-term asset investment planning.
• Present project information and technical reports to a range of stakeholders including residents, contractors and senior management.

Salary: £68,675 per annum

Location: South London / Surrey

The Role:

We are seeking an experienced Building Surveyor to play a key role in delivering planned investment, major works, cyclical maintenance and building safety programmes across a residential property portfolio.

Working as part of a proactive Asset Management team, you will lead the delivery of capital projects from inception through to completion, ensuring schemes are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest standards of quality, safety and compliance.

This is a varied role that combines project management, contract administration, building safety responsibilities, technical surveying and stakeholder engagement, offering the opportunity to make a real impact across a diverse property portfolio.

About You

You will be a confident and knowledgeable surveying professional with experience delivering major works and investment programmes within housing, property, construction or a similar environment.

You will have strong contract management, project management and technical surveying skills, together with a good understanding of building safety, compliance and CDM requirements.

You will also be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, build strong stakeholder relationships and demonstrate excellent communication, problem-solving and financial management skills.

Qualifications:

• Degree in Building Surveying, Construction or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Professional membership with RICS, CIOB or a similar body desirable.
• Fire Risk Assessor, Energy Assessor or Building Safety qualifications advantageous.
