Job summary

Baily Garner LLP, a Birmingham-based multi-disciplinary construction consultancy, seeks a Building Surveyor to lead contract administration and employer's agent duties across residential, education, leisure, health and blue light sectors.

You will manage site inspections, feasibility studies, measured surveys, design proposals, and tender/process administration, while maintaining client and contractor relationships within a hybrid working environment.

Responsibilities

• Visit sites and carry out inspections; issue reports.
• Prepare feasibility and budget estimates; outline designs.
• Prepare complete scheme designs and working drawings for construction.
• Submit planning and building control applications; manage approvals.
• Prepare specifications and schedules of work; invite tenders and analyse results.
• Prepare contract documents; undertake Contract Administration per practice procedures.
• Lead project teams; present schemes and manage programming and delivery.

We're thrilled to offer an opportunity for a Building Surveyor to join our expanding Birmingham based team. Working simple and complex projects across a range of sectors, including Residential, Education, Leisure, Health, and Blue light.

Role Information:

Act as the Contract Administrator or Employer's Agent on a wide range of building types, utilising all standard forms of construction and assuming full responsibility for the following:

• Visit site and carry out and issue inspections reports
• Prepare and present initial appraisal and feasibility reports
• Carry out measured surveys of existing buildings or sites
• Prepare and present outline design proposals, including preparation of budget estimate costs
• Prepare and present for approval complete scheme designs
• Prepare full working drawings sufficient for the construction of the project
• Submit applications for statutory approvals, including Planning, Listed Building Consent and Building Control Approval
• Prepare specifications and schedules of work
• Invite tenders for the main contract, carry out tender analysis and prepare tender reports
• Prepare contract documents
• Undertaking Contract Administration duties in accordance with Practice procedures and verification strategies
• Delegating any of the above duties whilst retaining responsibility for achievement
• Project Team Leader with Client liaison to include presentation of schemes, project programming and other matters affecting delivery of service

Essential Skills/qualifications

• Strong leadership skills
• Strong organisational skills
• Contract administration experience
• Confident working with challenging client and contractors relationships
• On route to sitting APC
• RICS accredited Bachelors degree
• Familiar with JCT contract forms and implementation of these contracts

Skills/qualifications Desired But Not Essential

• Proficient on MS office package including Word, Power Point, Excel and Microsoft Project
• Experience with NBS Chorus and AutoCAD
