Job summary

Warwickshire County Council is seeking a Building Services Supervisor to join our Warwickshire premises. You’ll ensure buildings are opened and closed on time, maintain safety with alarms, and supervise cleaning and caretaking staff and contractors.

You’ll undertake site inspections, manage stock, respond to emails, and complete paperwork. Training will be provided and you’ll work with internal and external customers to support the wider team.

  • Good customer care skills and flexible in your approach to duties are required.
  • Willingness to undertake training and support the wider team as necessary.

About Us And The Role

We’re looking for a Building Services Supervisor to join us at our premises in the Warwick area. Previous caretaking or security experience is preferred but not required as we will provide the training you’ll need. Contractual weekend overtime and on-call duty is worked every fourth weekend. A mobile phone will be provided for business use only.

Joining our team, you'll take responsibility for ensuring our buildings are opened and closed on time; are safe and secure using alarms and undertake routine maintenance work. Supervising cleaning & caretaking staff and contractors; undertaking site inspections, recycling; checking and responding to emails; porterage; cleaning; ordering stock and completing the necessary paperwork are all part of your role. You’ll undertake training activities; work with internal and external customers and support the wider team as directed.

The full pay package will include the following:
Basic Salary: £25,583 to £25,989 per annum
Regular Overtime: £3619.98 - 6 hours at time and a half every 4th Saturday, 3 hours at double time every 4th Sunday and one hour at time and a half every week.
Standby Duty £2,780.40 per annum (Standby Duty is subject to annual review in line with business needs)

This post is full time, 38 hours per week, starting at 11.15 (13.15 Mondays) and finishing at 20.15, with an hour lunch break to be taken from 15:00 to 16:00.

Contractual weekend overtime is undertaken every 4th week as follows:

Saturday, 6 hours at time & a half, from 08:00 to 13:00 & from 16:00 to 17:00

Sunday, 3 hours at double time, from 07:00 to 09:00 & from 16:00 to 17:00

Contractual standby duty (on call) is undertaken every 4th week as follows:

Monday to Friday, 20:15 to 08:00 the next morning

Saturday 13:00 to 16:00 & 17:00 to 07:00 on Sunday morning

Sunday, 09:00 to 16:00 & 17:00 to 08:00 on Monday morning

Key Requirements

To be successful in this role, you’ll be used to working within a team or solo, on your own initiative, and able to work under pressure. Good customer care skills; flexible in your approach to the duties and willing to support the wider team as necessary are all required. In addition, you’ll take pride in your work and be willing to undertake training are all required.

Other Conditions of Employment
  • Must have a valid driving license.
  • Must live close enough to respond to emergency call outs with twenty minutes.
