A top Regional Main Contractor is looking to appoint a Building Services Manager to take responsibility for ensuring efficiency, quality, and affordability across the design, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of all mechanical, electrical, and public health systems, essential to the success of a project.

Managing the efforts of the subcontractors, you’ll ensure all works are fully coordinated and delivered in accordance with the contract programme. You should be able to demonstrate a proven track record of managing project risks and implementing appropriate mitigation measures.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Reviewing installation plans and specifications to ensure they meet the building/client needs.
2. Advising the design team on the coordination of services within the overall building design, such as space requirements above ceilings for ventilation and other services.
3. Closing out design assumptions, opportunities (VE), and risks (HSE/CDM) identified during early design or tender stages.
4. Managing the submission and timely approval of all reviewable design data.
5. Assisting in the technical and commercial review of specialist subcontract tenders, establishing interfaces, and reviewing alternative designs.
6. Preparing technical submissions for alternative designs, systems, components, products, or materials for client approval.
7. Testing and verifying installations.
8. Ensuring compliance with building regulations and health and safety standards.
9. Attending meetings and presenting ideas and progress reports to managers and clients.
10. Advising clients on the operation of building services post-completion.
11. Contributing to environmental protection by minimizing energy wastage within building services.
12. Providing technical support to onsite construction activities to maintain quality standards.
13. Assisting the Design Manager with specific tasks and responsibilities related to design discharge.

The person:

1. Qualified in mechanical and/or electrical disciplines.
2. Experience as a building services manager with a comprehensive understanding of detailed M&E procedures and strong technical expertise.
3. Ability to review and understand M&E designs, installation, and commissioning programs.
4. Experience working on construction projects valued between £10 and £30 million as part of larger delivery teams.
5. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence others.
6. A team player capable of working with all organizational levels.
