Siemens Energy is now recruiting for its 2027 internship intake. We have a number of exciting new opportunities which represent a continued growth period for Siemens Energy Grid Technologies and offer excellent opportunities to be part of our development team.
From the outset, you shall be involved in the fast-paced world of electrical transmission projects. Your typical day as an intern would involve collaborating with our skilled team of professionals, contributing to both the design and execution stages of our building services. You will gain hands-on experience and practical skills in this burgeoning sector, working on tangible projects that directly impact sustainable energy solutions.
How You’ll Make an Impact
Our Grid Technologies division enables a reliable, sustainable, and digital grid. The power grid is the backbone of the energy transition. Siemens Energy offers a leading portfolio and solutions in HVDC transmission, grid stabilisation and storage, high voltage switchgears and transformers, and digital grid technology.
As the United Kingdom continues to prioritise its commitment to renewable energy, there is an increasing need for a significant expansion of its electricity transmission network. Renewable energy, including wind, solar, and hydropower, provides a cleaner and more sustainable alternative to fossil fuels. However, harnessing these energy sources often requires expansive infrastructure, like wind which are typically located in remote areas away from urban centres where energy demand is highest. To deliver this power effectively to where it's needed, Britain's electricity transmission network must be expanded and upgraded.
This position is situated within a team of engineers which specialises in Grid Access and HVDC Converter station electrical transmission projects. The team is composed of multifaceted talents, including dedicated Project Managers, Design Engineers, and Digital Engineers. They operate across civil and structural engineering and building services disciplines. Collaboratively, this team designs and implements coordinated solutions to establish the essential infrastructure needed for the installation and operation of high voltage electrical transmission systems.
At Siemens Energy, we are more than just an energy technology company. With ~107,000 dedicated employees in more than 90 countries, we develop the energy systems of the future, ensuring that the growing energy demand of the global community is met reliably and sustainably. The technologies created in our research departments and factories drive the energy transition and provide the base for one sixth of the world's electricity generation.
Our global team is committed to making sustainable, reliable, and affordable energy a reality by pushing the boundaries of what is possible. We uphold a 150-year legacy of innovation that encourages our search for people who will support our focus on decarbonisation, new technologies, and energy transformation.
