Job summary

Siemens Energy in the UK is seeking a Senior Engineer to generate Protection Engineering drawings and documents in line with design specifications, programme, budget, quality, and safety requirements. You will contribute to protection design packages and coordinate with site and client teams.

The role involves design risk assessments, change control, and providing guidance to construction staff on site-related issues, while gaining product and site knowledge through UK and German factory visits.

Qualifications

• HNC or degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience in Electricity Transmission & Distribution with UK TS exposure.
• Knowledge of Transmission & Distribution standards for Protection Engineering.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Produce and approve Protection Engineering Detailed Design Packages.
• Produce and approve Engineering Technical Specifications.
• Produce and approve Design Risk Assessments.
• Maintain design change control for related schemes.
• Provide timely responses to NCR+ non-conformances.
• Coordinate with other departments to resolve interdisciplinary issues.
• Attend site meetings to discuss on-site issues and advise construction staff.
• Attend client, site, or office Technical Meetings to ensure client satisfaction.
• Gain product and site knowledge through UK site and German factory visits.
• Provide tendering support when required.
• Coordinate with Technology team on design approval for Type Registration.

As a Senior Engineer at Siemens Energy, you will be responsible for generation of Protection Engineering drawings/documents in line with internal and customer Design Specifications, adhering to programme, budget, quality, health & safety requirements.

How You’ll Make an Impact

• Production / Approval of Protection Engineering Detailed Design Packages
• Production / Approval of Engineering Technical Specifications
• Production / Approval of Design Risk Assessments
• Maintain the design change control process on associated schemes
• Provide timely responses to non-conformances raised through the NCR+ process
• Coordinate with other departments in resolution of interdisciplinary issues
• Attend site meetings to discuss and advise construction staff on site related issues
• Attend Technical Meetings with Client, site or office based, to ensure Client satisfaction
• Gain product knowledge and site knowledge through visits to UK sites and German factories.
• Provide tendering support when required
• Co-ordinate with Technology team by contributing on technical issues to facilitate Type Registration including design approval

What You’ll Bring

• Minimum HNC/ Degree Qualified in Electrical Engineering
• Experience within the Electricity Transmission and Distribution industry, including UK Transmission System experience
• Conversant with the latest Transmission and Distribution standards & technologies applicable to Protection Engineering
• Flexible approach to design solutions / Decision making skills
• Positive working attitude, able to demonstrate self-motivation and a proactive approach
• Good written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage, motivate and inspire others within the project secondary design team
